Help Does this phone have auto correct???

If you are using the Samsung Keyboard as default, try this:

Settings>Language and input

Go into the Samsung keyboard settings. Find a setting that suggests words (Predictive text or XT9). If it's XT9, check under it to see if you can access XT9 advanced features. You will find settings for word completion, spell correction, auto-substitution, etc. This is coming from my Note 5.3 ICS. I don't know if they changed this with JB.

On my Note 10.1, I select 'Predictive text' to get the same advanced settings.

Hopefully it's the same for the Note 2.

I actually much prefer the predictive words than auto-correct. I can't count how many texts I've received from family members and friends that own iphones where they've had to correct themselves because of auto-correct. The fact that Samsung has the integrated swype with the one-handed keyboard function makes it my keyboard of choice for sure. I was using SwiftKey 3 for the past couple months (on the Photon), but as soon as I got the Note 2, I haven't even tried using swiftkey 3 again.

I would suggest SwiftKey app. The best predictive text keyboard in Android. I use Swype more because of the availability of my native language dictionary.

Right on. Get Swiftkey at the playstore. Its not hard to find - is #1 paid app. Its On Sale right now to for $2 if I remember correctly. It works very much like ios typing.

Yup, both in Swype beta and the preloaded Swype. =)

EDIT: Here are the keyboards I use. Thumb KB 4 is great for tablets. :)

I must be the biggest idiot around. I cannot get swype to learn any words. Never had an issue on any device before and I have been using this for a long time.

I cuss a ton and the damn thing will not learn anything!

If you "type" in a word, Swype should automatically add it to the dictionary. :D
