Samsung Galaxy S3 General Information and Troubleshooting FAQ

That's much easier IMO. I can do it by swiping, but it's hit and miss.

Do you all think this is something that warrants a trip back to the Verizon store for them to replace it or try to fix it? Or should I just live with not being able to swipe to take a screenshot? Could there be something defective about the phone? I just got it on Saturday so it's brand new...

It took me A long time to finally do it. You have to do it with the pinky finger side of your outstretched hand. Often it will just scroll the screen. Eventually it will be just the right angle and just the right pressure to take a shot. I doubt your phone is broken. I wouldn't return it unless you're certain it's broken since they usually give you a refurb.

Do you have a case that has raised edges around the screen? If so, this makes it difficult to swipe the edge of your palm across the screen in the proper manner that the S3 will recognize as a screen swipe. I have an Otterbox Defender, and I've pretty much given up trying to swipe a screenshot. I also had a Seidio Surface case for a bit that comparably has a very low lip around the screen edge and it was still difficult to swipe. Otherwise without a case swiping is a piece of cake for me.

just bought a Samsung Galaxy S III with unlimited data (T-Mobile) and want to use it as a hot spot with my new tablet. The tablet that I purchased, was very cheap so this MAY be the problem. It is a Double Power M-975 with WiFi 9.0 Capacitive Touchscreen Tablet PC with Anddroid 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) Operating System. I followed the instructions for PDaNet for both my phone and the tablet which links ove to FoxFi. At first, on the tablet the hotspot was identified but it just said SAVED but would NEVER connect. Both devices have identify unknown sources checked. I hate to have to pay an extra $15 per month to use my phone as hotspot as I feel that I am paying ENOUGH for unlimited data. Can ANYONE help? I am in dire need as if the tablet won't connect, I need to bring it back ASAP. Thanks in advance!

Doesn't sound like you're doing anything wrong. If the phone is running as a hotspot you should have a blue WiFi icon in the notification bar, then the tablet should "see" a network called AndroidAP and you need to connect to this. If, as you say, the phone has "allow all devices" selected then it should connect.

Hello everyone, I'm new here and I hope somebody helps me in my problem. I bought Galaxy S3 a few days ago, my problem is whenever i connect it to the internet it uploads unknown data. The upload is 100% equal to the amount downloaded, the download and upload signs are at the same height in my BitMeter program, it's a program i've always used on my laptop which i use as a wifi hotspot via virtual router.

Can you tell me why is it uploading data? and what data is it uploading? please I'm really worried i'm afraid that it's uploading my personal data somewhere, besides it's making my bill really heavy.
Note: back up my data option is unchecked.

I appreciate any help...
Thanks.

Have you enabled your dropbox or have sync enabled? Youll find its those most likely to be uploading data to the cloud drive.

Make sure you have NFC and S-beam enabled on both devices, and allow sufficient time on the first connection for it to successfully go through.

Is it connecting to other Samsung devices ok, but not transferring properly? Or is it not connecting/seeing other devices at all? Please give us a little more detail on what you've already tried.

Do you have experienced these problems after Jelly Bean (4.1.1) update.

-Browser crashes all the time. Sometimes when you try to search something with find function, in the web page, it chashes.

-Data stuck sometimes. It will need disconnect it that start action again.

Phone work better before the update. Surely faster now.

I'm sure these are Jellybeans problems because i have same problems with my Android tablet which also included that same Jelly Bean version.

Does anyone know if there are any Home key options? Prior to the JB update, the Home Key on my S3 (Verizon) would bring the device off stand-by like the power button, and whatever app I was using last remained in focus. After JB, the Home Key not only takes the device off Stand-By, but it also goes to the Home Screen. Is there a way to change this? I'd like the prior functionality back. Thanks.

Hi, Tried this, cleared the cache and data from both apps and still getting same problem. At the moment it is saying i have 3 unread emails when i know for a fact there isnt.
Do you have AT&T messaging app downloade? If you do and you also use the messaging function also, your messages show up in both places. Try reading them in the AT&t messanger app. If you delete the message thread in AT&T messanger, it will also delete it from the other messaging site.

I really like the chrome browser but I've found it drains a lot of my battery. Is it so with others? I'm not a big fan of the native browser though I read it has better benchmarks. What should I do? I've deactivated the tilt to scroll operations as I've read in another thread that it consumes battery. Is dolphin better in this regard? Pls help. I'm using an unlocked S3 on jellybean 4.1.1
