Worst Nexus Review Ever

That's been one of my biggest beefs with the Nexus/Google way of selling devices. I can't get my hands on it prior to sale (unless I know someone who already has it.)

Well you had a slightly better chance of being able to hold and feel this phone since some tMobile stors carried them. So if you were lucky enough to have a brick and mortar store near you that sold them, you could go and play with the phone before you bought it.

I apologize if this isn't in the right section but seriously, this reviewer who pits the Nexus 4 against Samsung's New Galaxy S3 Mini has such a poor grasp on the subject it would seem as though the reviewer is attempting self parody (meta) and is trying to become the Borat of the tech world. Don't believe me?

Google LG Nexus 4 vs. Samsung Galaxy S3 mini: Android 4.2 flagship compared with Android 4.1 mini smartphone
I remember seeing the title of this review and felt it was such a stupid comparison that the reviewer must be pretty ignorant and so I didn't bother wasting my time reading it. Now I have read it, my presumption was justified.

Similarly, any reviews (and there are many) that fail to grasp the significance of pricing when it comes to the Nexus 4 are also a waste time.

As far as reviews go, I tend to go by Techradar as they best reflect my way of thinking. They have the N4 ranked as 4th best phone in the world (for the UK market). For my needs it's probably number 1 as most of the well-known compromises don't bother me and it would be number 1 by a wide margin if it wasn't for the less than excellent camera which is one compromise(assuming it was an intentional) that does affect me.

Maybe Google will surprise everyone with an update that will fix the camera! Sounds hard to believe, but I remember a few years ago that Motorola sent out an update that helped the camera on one of they're Android phones. Can't remember which device, maybe Bionic?

Either way, that's my only serious serious Gripe with the phone. Everything else can pretty much be over looked and lived with!

The Nexus 4 can be compared by either price or specs and it may come out ahead that way but when you compare both price and specs together then you get a super phone.

At the place I work study at some of the teachers want my phone while some of the students are trying to make it seem that they got the better deal. Yeah right, you have a SGS3 for less than $200 but your stuck on a contract for 2 years where I can choose contract or no-contract and still have a phone that kicks butt and does what I need it to do.

If I get tired of one carrier I can switch or could even get on a contract if I wanted. It really comes down to this, does the phone meet your needs? I was on Virgin Mobile and got tired of 200 to 400 kbps average speeds. Now I'm on T-Mobile and getting anywhere from 2mbps to 5mbps. Since the only phones I can compare the Nexus 4 to are the Optimus v and the HTC Evo V the N4 is GREAT. Now compare it to Samsung? I would have to live with it for two weeks to really get a good feel of which is better.

Their is no per4fect smartphone, only what meets your needs at a good price point with a good cellular carrier that does not nickle and dime you to death.

If it's the compression or sampling, then an update might be able to correct the image quality. If it's the sensor i don't think there's much to be done. It would be nice if there was an app that would capture the raw data so it could be looked at to see if the hardware is capable.

Well I used the LG Optimus G at an at&t store earlier today, and I gotta say the images were pretty good, even compared to my iphone 5...

Honestly, they really looked fairly good. And the G has to I believe have the same exact camera and sensor as the Nexus 4....I mean that's what I would think anyway.

Now if Google really skimped and when with a whole different lens and sensor that's a whole other story...I really hope not.

They might have so they could keep the price point at $299/349. Could very well be software tho.

I'm coming up from a Evo V so I'm sure it'll be better lol

Because the Nexus 4 can't go up against the Full size GS3...

....

The only, and I mean only area where the N4 wins is that it wears a Nexus Badge and will get immediate updates under the Vanilla Android umbrella! Otherwise it can't hold a candle to the GS3...

For me, an AMOLED screen is a show stopper. I use my phones as a GPS in the car, and an AMOLED screen on full brightness for hours at a time will not fare well with some screen elements static (screen burn)
