So i purchased a 16gb nexus 7 on craigslist that the lack line that goes horizontal through the screen a little more than halfway up. The device works flawlessly aside from the black line. My questions is....has anyone returned their nexus 7 without the original box? Thx everyone for your time!

I recently sent mine back to ASUS with a different display problem. The instructions they sent me explicitly said NOT to include the original box. Curious, I called ASUS to ask why. They will actually try to repair the tablet not just swap it so the serial number on the box should still be relevant when you get it back.

I hope this helps.

PS. I'm typing this on an iPad. The keyboard stinks. I miss SwiftKey already!

To make a long story short I had to make a fuss about having a device that is still under warranty and having such a hard time getting this issue resolved. They are going to take care of the line in the screen and the muffled speakers. The tablet itself has been amazing aside from these issues. I am a teacher and it has been an invaluable tool in the classroom. Thank you all for your time.

Warranties aren't transferable and it was wrong to buy from Ebay and expect ASUS to fix it. You should have returned it to the Ebay seller. If they gave you any trouble you could have simply filed a Paypal dispute against them.

... Except that it was Craigslist. And he should've asked for the original receipt with it, so Asus couldn't be any trouble.
