Help WiFi Issues Frustrated

Try WiFi Analyzer, free in the Play Store.

You could be sharing a channel with a neighbor and not knowing it.

When that happens, arbitration takes over to deal with traffic collisions. Some devices can do ok with lots of collisions, some can not.

If you are overlapping channels with someone here, not only will getting your router on a free channel fix this, it will improve your throughput for you other networked machines as well.

Apps do not use specific ports...

Yeah - it's not the problem here, but some apps do use specific ports.

Early if that was the case about his neighboor taking his connection it would show up on his desktop wouldn't it? It would show the ppl connected to the network

Nope, not if it's just radio interference. Yes, if they've actually logged into your network.

Channel overlay and channel conflict (radio interference) looks like this -

uploadfromtaptalk1354924742344.jpg

In the above cases to the right, under the red, there is radio interference being arbitrated.

To make matters worse, many people don't rename their networks from their router defaults.

I once visited a buddy who was having strange issues, ran this tool and found everyone had the same network name and lots of overlap.

So - because of password protection, you don't see each other's computers on each other's networks - but you do get signal issues and dropouts and even get kicked off the net while your device tries to figure out where it really belongs.

Not guaranteeing that's what is happening here - just saying, this is the first thing I'd check.

Been trying to get you a lot of help here man!

Try these out too:

It could be a DNS server issue. Try having him change the DNS servers on the DHCP server page to Google's (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 - you usually set 2.) User would need to reconnect to the router with the phone, if the DHCP lease hadn't expired yet - I think it would take an expired lease to reset that. User could try setting lease times to one hour or something to try to get the DHCP server to change that on lease renewal.

If the router has security logging turned on, try turning that off. It's possible that the Android phone is messing up some communications, creating errors, and the log files are filling or something, if logging is turned on.

One last thing: user said s/he tried setting WPA/WPA2. I've seen issues in the past with this setting - try setting WPA only, or (better) WPA2 only - see if one works. (I doubt that this is it - you would never connect at all if it was a security issue.)

It could also be a channel issue. For 802.11g, it's best to be on channel 1, 6, or 11. If it's not set to one of those, try changing it to one of those and see if that helps

One last thing - try going (on the phone) to wherever the WiFi settings are. Have user press menu and see if there is an advanced menu. If so, try changing WiFi sleep policy to "never", if there is a setting like that.

Well, first of all, thank you all for all the help :)

1.The distance is irrelevant.I can sit as close as 1 meter and it still wont't work
2.I have a broadband connection from RDS RCS company,in ROmania. With username and password,on PPPoE connection. When i set up my router i have to input the username and password, yes.
I connect the internet cable, the white one which supplies the internet connection,to my router, and then i get a yellow cable which connects the route and the PC together.I don't have a modem
3.When it doesnt work,I can use opera mini on my cellphone to get to the router's gateawy,so it works.
4.I wish i could find the reset button,it is burried deep in the router.I need a sharp needle to press it.
5.I'll try to change the chanells
6.I also tried the DNS thing,it didnt quite work

So your phone isn't losing connection to the router...your router is losing connection to the internet... or its possible certain apps on your phone are corrupted. Have you tried reinstalling the problem apps?
You will definitely need to do a hard reset of the router to help rule out some things... are you able to verify your phone works fine on another WiFi connection?

I'd also be curious to see what the WiFi analyzer app shows...

You know SD I was thinking the same thing. It would rule out a few questions here

He did say his laptop worked fine so how would the router lose connection to the internet?

I still do believe a new router would solve this issue the most efficiently.

browsing on the basic browser is good,no problem with that, but once i get on my youtube app,it first won't load anything,it says it;s not connected, please reintry, althoough i get full signal.

,the youtube partially works, meaning it loads the videos(the home videos, meaning recommended videos and subscription videos),but it wont load the icons,it will load just a blank square with the video name on it.if i play that video,it will eventually load, but most of the times won't load related videos and the comments.
same happens for android market too, when i search something, either it won't go trough at all(it tells me no connection, please reintry),or it will load the apps in the same way it does with youtube, just the name and no icon.if i try to download them, the download bar appears, but it won't show a percentage,it's just stuck on downloading. Also,it never loads the screenshots for the app.
when the routed has this bad habit of not working, other internet related apps don't work either.for example, google maps will not load, even if it loads,it will load the cached maps and will not allow me to zoom in on an uncached part of the map.for opera mini, when i touch "search google" and type something, after searching it says no connection.
Strangely enough, dailymotion app works anytime, even when the roiuter doesn't work.

... found out that restarting my cellphone will not allow me to use any internet related app(except dailymotion and the browsers)for an extended period of time, ranging from 3 hours to 1 day.

So,has anyone any ideea how to fix it?I still don't know if the router of the celphone is the blame, but i tested my cellphone on other routers and they worked 100% of the times, and i didnt get these stupid errors.

If his phone was losing connection to the router, he wouldn't be able to access the router's interface from the phone, which he can. So it's not like his phone is dropping the wifi connection. Being able to access the router(from the phone) but not the Internet, *usually* points to a problem with the ISP. Although he states the Internet continues to work on his PC, which points me in the direction, that the problem lies with the phone(according to the original post, only certain apps are affected, mainly google apps, YouTube, maps etc), an incorrectly configured router, or a crowded wifi channel.

Judging by the router's interface screenshot, it doesn't appear to be an older router (it is also wireless N). I'm betting a hard reset of the router will fix it. IMO a lot more info is needed before a new router should be purchased.

I have this router
Amazon.com: Belkin N150 Wireless N Router (Older Generation): Electronics
-the wifi sleep policy is set on never,it always was so
-the router supports N too
-i switched to WPA,no effect
-also changed the DNS,didnt work

One thing though, yesterday i removed the yellow cable which links the router and the PC,and it worked very well, until today, when i plugged it back in.Maybe this was causing the problem,i dont know.i have to run some more tests and see what's what :)
