I used this info here BUT we have to use the "rageagainstthecage" option as psneuter will just hang.

Follow the directions here and it's easy.
[APP]SuperOneClick v1.6.3 (Root, Unroot, Enable Non-Market App, Get UNLOCK code) - xda-developers

IMPORTANT
when you install/root the phone, if you don't see the superuser command or after you root, TURN OFF YOUR PHONE and REMOVE THE BATTERY and the wall charger. Press the power button to discharge the phone, wait 10 seconds, then turn the phone back on and everything should work just fine.

I went from 1.5 to 1.6 with no probs. I also used Root Explorer to delete/remove all the bloatware from the phone.
Myspace is called Clientxx172.apk...it is NOT called myspace.

I have 1.6 setup nicely and it is working great. This is an awesome phone. I was trying all those other launcher programs and replacement home screen apps such as GDE but I find that they slow down your phone and it actually takes you longer to get to apps.

*Tip- make a folder on your home screen (you can rename it, it's tricky, just click on the name itself "new folder" and it will allow you rename it. I placed all of my most accessed apps on screen 1 with a folder for all my GPS programs. On Screen 2 I have all of my wifi items and market. Screen 3 will become the multimedia apps screen. The folders is much faster and cleaner to place your similar apps into. Yes, some of those phones look cool with all the widgets running and desktops but you can make yours look good BUT run faster.

Handcent is a MUCH better app than standard messaging. Try it (just disable the notification on the stock messaging app so you do not get 2 notifications for every new msg).

or you could just use universal androot, heres a guide :::

Here are the step by step instructions on rooting your Android devices using universal root:

The first step is to download Universal Androot 1.6.2 beta 5.
download from here

Now connect your supported Android device to the computer and mount SD card.
Now copy the APK file you downloaded in the 1st step, to your SD card.

After this is done, use a File Manager to install the file. (i use app installer)
Now launch the Universal Androot appn and follow onscreen instructions to root your device. There you go! It is the simplest method ever to root your Android device.

Hi I'm a little new to rooting so I need help bad I heard how cool rooting can be and how risky it can be but the only thing I want to do is us a screen recorder and do screen shots for youtube and facebook.

so here is my problom I have androot, gingerbreak, and z4root but none wants to work I read some of the other blogs and tried what they said but none work I even tried super one click root and at first it didn't work now it gets like 75% done and then it stop cold and freezes and it stops on finding path or somthing of that sort so I'm still trying to find out what I'm doing wrong and as for androot z4root and gingerbreak they stay on the loading wheel the only one that does not do that is androot it takes like 2 sec to do it but it says failed no root and some times z4root will start like its working like it will load and go back to the apps and when I open it back up it terns white for a sec and says z4root has stop.

oh and my phone is a hydro

Hi Droidsim and welcome to Android Forums!

Somehow your first post on rooting your Kyocera Hydro phone ended up in the Archived Tablets section, where it is not likely to be seen by very many members. You might want to re-post your questions here:

http://androidforums.com/kyocera-hydro/

Particularly in the "All Things Root" section. Hopefully the other Hydro users there can help you through the process. Good luck and it's great to have you aboard! :)
