Unwanted contacts

I just upgraded to a GN2 and unfortunately the phone imported hundreds of contacts from my Gmail account I do not want. It literally uploaded the contacts of everyone I have ever emailed, including 200+ "unknown" contacts. When I go into settings/contacts to display and only check phone, they do not go away. To top it off, the phone automatically backed up to Verizon backup plus or whatever it's called so I cant just wipe and rebackup without havig the same issue I am assuming. Is there any way to rectify this issue, and if not, is there some way to delete these through software instead of having to manually delete them all on the phone. Thanks.

The verizon backup is very annoying IMHO, but IIRC there's a skip feature when you first activate/turn on a wiped phone.

Usually it's the other way for me, sync on my outlook with a new app on the PC and I get dups.

Facebook is intrusive, and I had to knock a setting down with my calendar, fortunately that didn't sync with my work setup. I think I had to disable that sync and then turn it off in the calendar app. Might be the same for the google sync, maybe not?
