So the wifi only version is expected to get the JB update. We just have to be patient? (Waiting sucks, I know) :)

Hope that helps!

Hi guys, although there is no official update for the n8010 I got a little impatient and decided to try flashing the n8000 firmware to see if it would work.
Figured there's no reason why it wouldn't considering the internals are no different apart from the gsm.

Anyway, after taking the plunge I installed it, and everything work fine! Apart from the gsm features (text message) obviously, has all the extra features including the premium suite, Google now etc.

I did however find a small flaw, a full wipe is required before flashing otherwise you will get it restarting randomly while the screen is locked, however this may be down to the firmware looking for a network connection, so might also be resolved by turning on airplane mode.

also I've been unable to register the device for updates, but I made sure to perform a full back up before flashing, also have the original rom for reverting back too.

I'll continue having a look around and let you all know.
In the meantime I can send you some screenshots just ask.

Hope this give some of you a little hope

Well I had Jelly bean on my Motorola xoom WiFi and it was a massive improvement. So much quicker and much more stable. I had to do a process on it to make it think it was an American version so the updates came straight from google and not through motorola.
I have the note 2 which came with JB and it really is amazing. It is not just the JB but all the other extras that come with the update, in particular the S pen features, hold the pen above the open video player and the video will pop out and start playing, you can hold the pen just above a web page and it will scroll up or down without touching the screen, hold it above a closed email, it will pop open. Hold it above a photo folder and, you guest it, it will pop up showing what photos are in that folder.
There are lots more things beside all of that so getting it on the note 10.1 will make this the best tablet out there. Dazza

Hello all, i am a newbie so forgive me if i don't speak android as yet. I too have had the generic emails contradicting previous messages from samsung and i feel let down. I had the impression that when i spent 399.99gbp on the gt-n8010 wifi version the update was imminent !

I dont want to flash mine or root it as this would invalidate the warranty wouldnt it ?

My husband updates our mobiles, which are all samsungs and they work fine but im scared to let him loose on my tablet. Basically i tried the kies approach and havent a clue what to do, i see all my folders and drives but nothing for checking for updates, i daily check the settings for updates on the tablet but alas the results are zero.
It makes me angry to think version 2 of our tablet came with jb on it yet we have to bide our time, i feel used as we should get priority as we bought first. I knew i should have got the ipad but the phones have been great even the 2 samsung tvs and the samsung american fridge is spot on, why are they stalling with providing an upgrade which at the time of sale was to happen asap ?

PLEASE HELP.

THANKYOU ALL

Hi. I'm not sure what you mean by version 2 coming with jb. I have a note 10.1 and I thought it was the only version out there. Am I missing something?

Anyhoo, I'll be patient. There's so much to learn about this tablet and android in general, that I feel I have enough to learn without more features piling on top of me.

PS is there a quick way to get to the bottom of a long thread like this one on an android tab. I'm having to stroke like mad to get there!

just because you had a good experience with your xoom, it doesn't mean that everyone else will, and yes it's called gedifying your tablet, i did the same with my tablet as it was a uk model and was never going to get updated.

the latest jellybean update 4.1.2 completely killed my xoom, i can't use it anymore, i can't unlock the screen and have to press the power button on the back 20 times before i can swipe to unlock and use it but then 10 seconds later it locks up again and i have to do a hard reboot each time but it doesn't get any better, can't scroll down to view a webpage, can't type even one word because it gets completely unresponsive and there is nothing i can do to fix it, so i am selling it for parts and getting a note but won't touch jellybean again after that, i lost

Wow you are angry, Have you looked at the Motorola xoom forum, that's where I got all the info on geding mine. They are a great bunch of people and they may be able to help sort your xoom out.
The difference with updating the note to jelly bean is that it is a manufacture update so if it should go wrong you will be covered by the warranty. When we modified the xoom the warranty became invalid, but that was a risk that we / I was warned about. But I am sorry that your xoom ended up like that.
Dazza.
