Any difference in screen size

Is there any difference at all in screen size/shape between the Razr HD and the Razr Maxx HD? The reason I ask is because I bought Verizon screen protectors for my Maxx HD and I think they gave me ones for Razr HD. I don't know for sure because the salesman never gave me the original packet, just the two remaining protectors after he installed one of them (which I had to redo). The protectors are okay but they are very slightly smaller than the screen, so there is a gap of 1 or 2 mm all around the edges. I don't have any gap with the screen protector on the DX. After a while, I know the edges are going to look ratty. I also don't like the way they are cut out for the front facing camera (why is this even necessary?), even on the side where there is no camera.

I think the cutout on the other side is for the sensor that turns the screen off when you are talking on the phone (so if your cheek touches the screen it doesn't do anything.) My understanding is that screen protectors could interfere with the camera and sensor, hence the cutouts. I got a screen protector with my Trident Aegis case and it is a bit smaller than the screen and also has the cutouts

I don't think there is anything on the left side but maybe I'm not seeing it. I also looked at the picture in the user guide and don't see anything there labeled. The cutout is actually a little bigger than the one for the camera.

There's definitely something on the left side, and I think I remember reading a post on this forum about screen protectors for the HD that mentioned the sensor.

As far as what people are protecting their screens from- any number of things that could damage a screen (even gorilla glass). If I look at my screen protector from the right angle, I see a number of micro scratches in it. Not that all of those would have been on my screen itself without one, but to me, and many others, it's worth a few extra bucks to protect their investment.

When looking at the screen on the max HD, the right side top (just to the right of the notification light) is the front facing camera. Just to the left of the notification light is the sensor that turns off the screen when it's being used as a phone. (per fullerne) The screen protectors don't cover these two items so it doesn't hamper their operation.

User's Guide Page 25.

Just like the Bionic they recommend that it not be covered (even with a clear screen protector).
