Just updated yesterday and heres the issues I'm having....

1.my phone noticeably gets hotter, and my battery drains much faster! What is up with that!
2. My led light when changing is not bright like it used to be. Its very dim...

Is anyone else having these issues, and if so is there something i can do to resolve this?

Same here...I went ahead and did the hard reset, yuk..! Yeah, 50+ apps gone...but I really think my screen is not as vibrant as it was before JB. Is it me or what...Phone is pretty much back to normal now, but I would have skipped the update for a while....Might want to pull the battery for an hour or so, then charge while phone is off....see how it goes from there..

I noticed the dim charging light. I figured it had something to do with not being so bright while you are sleeping since many people charge while they sleep...unsure though. No heat problems here and in fact my battery has been just as good as it was with ics. I just started using location now with google now and even with it on my battery is still good. I'm at 62% after 13 1/2 hours. 5 hours were overnight while I slept but that's how it was with ics as well. I charge before bed and let it off the charger overnight. It only drained 5% overnight. I'm pleased with the update

In noticing this as well. Battery is draining much faster. Would a factory reset make a difference?

Person in post #2 said it got rid of 50+ apps -- and if any of those are running by default, the phone would run cooler after they were gone.

But, I looked through my app list after the update, and didn't see anywhere near that number of new apps.

And, if anything, mine seems zippier than before, not slower.

I also like that you can long-press the menu button, get a list of running apps on the screen, and swipe them to the right to shut them off. That is a LOT quicker than wading through the list in the Applications section.

Interesting. What carrier do you have? I'm with Verizon and when I long press my menu button, I get Google Now. I don't get a list of running apps.

1. The battery does appear to run out quicker. I am noticing and have a 4000mah battery, so cringe at the thought of stock size.
2. The radio seems no better or worse
3. I am not seeing it any faster or slower
4. Foxfi issue blows.

IMO, this update was a complete waste of time and for Foxfi users, a net negative.

I'm wondering if the first 3 problems (or?) would be fixed with a wipe?
Has anyone tried? and got better than 4.0 ICS results?

I gave no complaints on better life so far. Been using the phone a lit this morning. uploadfromtaptalk1355689338047.jpg

1. Battery life seems on par for mine. Running the stock battery and haven't noticed any difference than before the update.
2. The towers in my area have just been updated to 4G in the last month or so. I was getting consistent 2-3 bars 4G and sometimes switching to 3G at home. Since the updated I have a steady 4 bars of 4G and haven't noticed a switch to 3G at home. Not very scientific but I haven't had much of a signal issue to worry about it.
3. Same for me. I don't notice any difference in speed.
4. I was able to connect via FoxFi after the update. It did add the VZN hotspot icon in the notification bar, but showed up as FoxFi on my laptop. Opening the VZN hotspot directly prompts to set up account so I am comfortable using FoxFi when needed until told differently.

I don't think it was a waste of time, just overhyped. I like some of the new notification features and having local search back. 4.1.2 is the update that will have some nice features. Too bad it will be old news by the time we get it...

Been noticing a much faster battery drain as well. Stopped/disabled a bunch of the preinstalled samsung apps, noticed that a process/app called Security Storage is constantly popping up to the top of the resource use list and has been using 29.51% of the total cpu use. After only 2 hours of sitting (25 mins of screen time on about 25% brightness), the phone has drained 20%. I know there was never any drain like that before, so I'm wondering if the Security Storage process was high on the resource list before; anyone know?

edit: The downloads process seems to be a close second. Seems this might be the folder that was suggested in other threads for rooted users to get rid of to help fix some battery drain.

I noticed something with google now. I did see that it drained my battery slightly more than before but it wasn't terrible. I tried something yesterday and it helped a lot. I went in to google now settings and only selected a few things that I wanted it to update me on ie. weather, traffic, nearby events, and my favorite baseball team. Since then I have noticed the battery lasts just as well as it did on ICS. So maybe it just depends on how many things are active in google now. If you want to use google now but not all of the options then just go into each one and either click on or off. Very pleased with my battery now even with google now running.

Am i the only one that has seen better battery life? and by better i mean, at least two fold to ICS, I've noticed that with JB the standby drain has decreased dramatically. First full day i went 15 hours on battery, not extreme use because i was very busy but still around 2 hours of screen time 20 minutes of phone calls, plenty of the screen time consisted of online searching and facebook, not to mention taking a decent amount of pictures, and after those 15 hours i still had over 50 percent remaining. I did analyze my data and the standby drain used to be 2-3 % per hour if i didn't touch the phone now its less than 1% per hour if i don't touch it at all.

I went from 13 1/2 hours average battery life with ICS, with average use, to 11 1/4 hours with JB with the same use. Sure it's a 2 hour average drop, but not big enough for me to come on to the interwebs and bitch about it like some folks seem to want to do. 11 1/4 hours is still longer than I'll EVER be without a charging port anyway, so it's not a big deal for me. I'm happy with JB so far. And for the record, I didn't and don't see a need to factory reset after the update.

I noticed some of these issues also after the update. I went ahead and cleared the cache partition and did a factory reset and things seem to be a lot better. I am at 79 percent battery after 5 hours where I would be at 50 by this time before the reset. The lag also went away and the overall performance increased. I would suggest a cache partition wipe and factory reset to those having issues.

I formatted my sd card and then dragged my pictures and music back on to it, and now my phone dont recognize the card! my gallarey doesn't show my pics from the card and my music doesn't show up in the music player! My phone gets hot! When I check the battery stats, "Media" and "sdcard" are the top 2 killing my battery!

Ever since this update, my phone is driving me crazy!

How do you clear the cache partition?

You know, one thing I did notice since I got the JB update that is mildly annoying. Apparetly, the update removed a hunk of the album covers associated with my mp3's. I noticed it when I was listening to some tunes while I was vegitating on the couch watching football all day yesterday. I noticed that about one in every five or six songs no longer had an album cover associated with it. Not a big deal as I use WinAmp with the Album Washer plugin and can download and attach a new picture to the song in a matter of seconds while listening to the song. I then noticed that some of the album covers that DID show up were different pictures than that which I had previously associated with said song(s) before the JB update. As far as I can figure out, the update tried scanning all of my mp3's and assigning album covers to them and left the ones it could not find pictures for blank. It's not a big deal because I can just re-download them as I said before, but it is a little annoying because I have about 6,000 songs and one out of every five or six equals 1,000 songs I'm going to have to do this to.
