Help battery life on jelly bean 4.2

Looking for a little info.
I'm currently using a routed kindle 1st gen, running cyanogenmod 10.1 and the battery life isn't great. In a test over night in a 7 hours period (no WiFi, no notification, no sync, no sound, device in standby with screen off) 50% of the battery was used.
Now that seems a bit steep to me. I'm curious if anyone can tell me what the nexusdoes in the same conditions (only app running was battery widget reborn)

I am hoping to get a nexus before too much longer, just curious what to expect.

there were some reports of serious batt drain on nexus 7 but that has not been my experience. it gets about what I expected. I guess I'm a light user and its getting me a good 24 hour period; browsing, a little music, a few videos, no games yet. my batt is not yet 'trained' either. i'm running 4.2.1. I will say, at risk of being pummeled by the serious phanbois, the ipad mini we also have is stunning in its batt management. I had no expectations going in, but to me as a tech-head, it is superb in this regard. three days... it feels like it doubles what the nex7 can muster.
as always, anything you are not using you should turn off ... One very good thing about Nexus 7 is the display has HUGE headroom - I have my brightness at about 40% and its still an eyestrainer on overly white backgrounds - so that right there cuts out a lot of batt drain.

I turn wifi on/off as needed. Turn it off at night. I lose at most 3% in a 12 hour overnight period. I lose 50-75% day use if I'm using it a lot. Battery loss is about the same as my other devices (Optimus-V and Galaxy Player, although I seldom use them anymore, so theirs is now MUCH better).

Make sure you have nothing syncing at night. Make a note of battery app use in evening and again in AM to see what was using juice at night.

Which OS versions are you guys running?

If you're on 4.2.1, did you do a hard reset after the update? I've been dragging my feet on resetting my tablet, buy at this point, I think I need to try it.

Android OS is the biggest battery user on my device. It isn't letting my tablet go into a sleep state properly.

I am on 4.2.1 also but Android uses very little battery. With normal operation my screen uses 60% - but I have set it on high. Example:

Here's mine, fairly typical:
(Can't believe it's 72 degrees in December!)

edit: PS, I never have done a hard reset. I seldom turn it off at all.

My screen brightness is turned clear down. Last night my battery was at 17% so I checked my screen on time. I got 5 hours and 51 minutes of actual use from the Nexus 7. This included about 2 days of idle time with wifi on and bluetooth off. The main apps I used included firefox, tunein radio, angry birds, accuweather, and a few others.

tcat007, I see you're using Naked Browser. I just installed it last night and it looks promising.

Yeah, you guys don't seem to be having the battery issue that some folks are. Decided to suck it up and do a hard reset on my tablet to see if that helps.

Doing the hard reset didn't help.

Using the Better Battery Stats app, I've been able to determine that "baseband_xmm_power" is what is keeping my N7 from sleeping correctly and causing the "Android OS" to show a huge percentage of battery use for me.

I'm using the 3G N7 with an AT&T SIM card, but I'm almost always on wifi. Oddly enough, putting the device into airplane mode to disable the cellular radio and then turning on WiFi doesn't seem to help.

I've seen one person who suggests that putting the device in airplane mode, rebooting, and then turning off airplane after the reboot. I'm trying that now, but it will probably be another day or so before I really can tell if that made a difference.

I hope Google can get a fix out soon!
