Help Unable to detect

I just bought a brand new Super phone. I guess it is listed in my side profile there

<==

Anyway. All is fine on boot up, phone works great and all that. I can access the sd card fine and it tells me the right amount of space available on the card. The problem is when I go to turn off or reboot the phone it tells me:

"Unable to detect sd card. Please insert the card and try again"

Well, I have done this and it does not help. Can someone shed a bit of light on this and tell me if this is my sd card or the phone and how to fix it. Thanks in advance.

EDIT: I have formatted the card as well while it was in the phone.

Welcome to the AndroidForum, 1bigguy!

I don't have a final / firm answer for you, but you could narrow the issue down by trying a different SD card. They do go "bad" (thankfully not too often), so it might simply be a case of a wonky card.

Since it's a brand-new device, it obviously shouldn't be behaving like that, so you could ask your carrier / retailer to help you out by providing a new SD card (worth a shot :)).

Finally, although this probably isn't your issue, I had similar issues when I tried using a class 10 SD card in my DX (that class of SD card was/is not appropriate for the SD--too "fast"). Most of the time it worked fine, but other times, it just "went away" or reported a similar issue.

I'm sure others will chime-in, too!

Best of luck!

Thanks scary alien for the advice. I have tried a different card. The first was an 2 gb and this one is an 8 gb. Maybe like you say they are not compatible. I may have to go out and buy a new, maybe bigger sd card for it. Is there a listing somewhere of sd cards that are compatible with this phone. ???

Hmm, well I found this (well-respected) site that says:

MEMORY Card slot microSD, up to 32GB, 8 GB included

so it seems like you should be able to install a larger one.

The class (basically, it's rating for data transfer speeds) is your biggest concern. Higher class SD cards are meant for large, high-speed transfesr like for HD video cameras (although I do see the "HD" in your device's name, too).

Check the class on it...I'm not an expert, but a class 4 or 6 should be fine for you (10 is probably too high/fast).
