sound not long enough?

do this

Thanks to Myshkin

Okay, on this my sound wasn't lasting through my entire boot up. At first I was going to make a longer version of the song but didn't really want to time it and didn't want to try and change my fps in my desc.txt to match the song. What I did instead was add a sound command to my desc.txt. Now you have to do this with Notepad++ and your command has to be called the exact same thing as your sound is. I renamed mine exactly what LaDrifta already had it named. my desc.txt now looks like this and my sound last through the entire boot

well i haven't confirmed that as of yet.. need someone to test it.. but it's just a simple binary edit so should work just fine... but yes that is the idea :D

I installed the boot sound zip and it is the original metro pcs boot up sound that u get when ur phone is all shiny and new lol but yea it works. I just haven't been able to change it. I tried copying a mp3 sound file i have to the folder that its in and renaming it with power on like it is on the og sound file and i get nothin. even tried changing permissions and anything else i could think of and still no sound. I just dont like that metro "hello hello hello" crap lol. But its no biggie I'm kinda used to a silent boot up, but if u like the og metro boot sound its there :)..... O abd have a happy turkey day yall

it a file names MetrpPCS_Power_On_Sound.mp3 or something like that... you wont find it in any rom as of now because it was never originally included with any lol so basically after you flash the sound enabler, you will find the mp3 file in system/media/power directory on your device :D than just swap the mp3 for your own :D

or just swap the sound file in the installer lol than flash it that way :D glad it works though thanks for testing that out ;)

now i need to look at #2 again because some folks are complaining LOL

It didn't work out well for me. While the zips did turn the boot sounds on & off, they also caused my phone to hang up on the boot animation. I had to flash a backup in order to get it to boot up again.

It would be cool to have the stock message app, as well as the new one from your #2 rom in a flashable version. Can you do that for me ldrifta? Just wondered. I'm not sure if it would take long to do that.

What I did for now was I went into the beastcandy theme and copied the mms.apk then placed it in my phones /system/app/ folder and rebooted the phone and BAM !! I knw it's not a flashable zip but until one gets made im sure you'll be happy doing the same with the mms.apk from the stock rom or any of the themes on here. Im very happy with the #2 rom with the mms theme from beastcandy, I hope this helps you. If you need any guiding in doing this just let me knw.

Whoohooo!!! My phone now has my own boot sound....The Doctor Who theme song from the tenth Doctor. All you have to do is extract the boot enable zip and replace the files in system/sound with your own. It's very simple. I did make the original files .bak files and renamed mine exactly how LaDrifta did. I worked on this forever several months back but couldn't get past the missing binary problem. LaDrifta, you are the bombdiggity!!!

Oh, and then of course zip it back up lol:D

Clarification, you don't actually zip this by sending it a compressed zip file. I wrote a boot animation guide in Sept and I really need to redo it. (it was after the fire and i was trying to hurry before my battery died, my charger burned. if you read it just know that anytime I'm talking about memory, I'm talking about my own lol, not the phones) I keep forgetting not everyone read it. To write on desc.txt you have you use Notepad++ I think there is something else you can use but I don't know what it is. Then when you have your folders and desc.txt ready you need to use 7zip and send these to archive....make sure it's set on store and not compress. Zip it up like that.

I've had a few emails is the reason for the clarification. lol. Sorry I wasn't clearer.
