Root [Question] Can I uninstall the official Motorolla 2.3.5 update?

Hello everyone - new member here. I've done a forum search and viewed the suggested posts (the forum suggests based on the title I typed). I assume this question has been asked and answered somewhere but I have no idea where...

I got caught up in the hype surrounding Motorola's promised ICS update for the Photon and began installing every system update they pushed, and I eventually got the 2.3.5 update which has made my phone very sluggish and buggy.

I've been really happy with the phone until now. This prompted me to revisit the idea of putting ICS on the phone myself, but after 2 hours of research I discovered this phone has been locked down now.

I read in one of the other forums regarding a different phone, that in order to downgrade to a previous system software release the bootloader has to be unlocked, but in this case, the bootloader has been locked down. So is it safe to assume there is simply nothing I can do? It seem preposterous, coming from a windows background, that I can't simply pull out some sort of install CD or file and just reinstall android like I reinstall windows when it gets all messed up. But that is the case is it not? I just don't get it.

Suggestions please!

I assume no one here has an answer, because I can't imagine you guys would want to give new members the cold shoulder.. I've also looked around other sites without really much luck.

For now, I think I am going to just leave the phone alone since it does what I want it to do most of the time - it's just really slow.

But if someone out there knows what might be causing the slow-down and how to fix it - something about Moto blur? - let me know. Thanks.

I am in the same boat and spent a couple hours looking around. There is nothing that we can do. I think the only option is to Brick the Phone. And then that only makes your phone a paper weight.

For me, I hope to limp by until this summer when Moto brings out their next releases, and then I will compare it with the iPhone and determine which one to migrate.

This sucks, I should have changed over in June.

I suspect there are two things that are happening:
1) The path to ICS is too difficult and troublesome that it creates more work for MOto and Sprint when people try to do it themselves.
2) There is something that one can do to the phone that makes the phone more available than what the carrier would like it to be... example there might be a way to root it and get free WiFi data...

Also I wonder if you can somehow change the phone over to an international phone and jump on other carriers... just wondering. Just don't have time to burn on this anymore. Will just use the phone as is until we get some better options...
