Moto needs to fix this. Bought a RAZR M for my son for Christmas and upgraded it to JB. Everything is smooth and fast on the M. No widget and icon redraws, no lag when hitting the home button twice on the preview screen or swiping of the home screens, no lag in the app draw when swiping between apps to widgets.

Doesn't the M and HD have basically the same hardware except for the screen and battery. The JB update for the M seems to be the same as the HD so why so much lag for us. Even looked at a couple of vids for the recent JB update for the OG RAZR. No lag on it either. Even the S3 that I owned for 2 months before getting my RHD was almost lag free on ICS!

Keep in mind that Razr M has qHD screen, which has only about 56% of total pixels of HD screen. So GPU doesn't have to work as hard as for HD screen. I guess it has to do with GPU acceleration part of stock JB launcher in RHD because RHD is pretty zippy in other launchers like Nova, Holo HD.

I guess it can be corrected in future update. Gnex is quicker in JB than ICS. So I don't think it's OS issue.

No problem Ag. Let us know what happens. My theory may be irrelevant, so reports from others are important to log.

As far I can tell, my phone has no lag, or is not really noticeable to me. But when I purchased the phone, the salesman in the Verizon store had trouble activating the Isis app, and while doing so, the Jelly Bean update was installed. He then did a factory data reset trying to get Isis to activate, so that may have helped with any possible lag.

My wife got her Razr HD before the JB update, and I installed the update on her phone when it was released. No factory date reset was done, and just playing around with it before I got my Razr Maxx HD, I didn't notice any lag. My wife hasn't complained about the phone, except for the camera, so I don't think it's a problem for her either. If her phone has any lag, it's probably not something she notices, but I doubt she uses her phone like most of the users on the forum.

I guess I must be lucky as my JB is a little smoother than ICS was, although I started with a new phone. When I activated my Maxx HD on Christmas morning, I bypassed signing into Google as I knew JB was waiting to download. I took the update and before anything else was on the phone I did an FDR. I then cleared the cache twice. Then over the next few days I installed my apps which only total 21. I don't have any type of games if that matters. Also, I disabled 25 of the apps that we are blessed with by Verizon. The phone may have a slight snag now and then, but it is smoother than ICS on my previous phone which was the first Maxx. I love the Maxx HD and don't regret paying full price for it. Good luck to those with problems.

well, anything able to be disabled cannot ruin your phone! so try GS, i tried it and looked some google apps and seems to work so idk. if it messes something up enable it again! and as for smcardservice i doubt anyone uses that, but again if you need it just enable it! any important apps will not be able to be disabled.
BTW about calling MOTO, I think they are just there for hardware, and kind of a puppet! google does all the software now (i assume), but i doubt they will know about it!!!

I've been trying to figure out this lag thing too...I really dislike lag. I disabled Google Now & disabled the Verizon Apps as previously suggested. I also think I may have found something awesome:

It may be premature, but I believe I've found a way to get rid of almost all lag. I installed this apk called Seeder.

My lag pretty much gone. I've been disappointed in EVERY Android phone I've ever had (because of lag)...this seems to have fixed it.

Can you give me some examples of lagging? For example, on my old Bionic phone, from time to time, it would take 15-30 seconds to bring up the dialer. But that was about the only thing I noticed. Is that what you guys are talking about? Or is it more pervasive - with different apps being affected?

It's just general choppyness. Typical Android stuff, but more often... Pulling down notification shade, pulling up keyboard, scrolling home screens, etc.

Android has never been known for smoothness, but JB was specifically 'designed' to smooth things out, and it had the opposite effect on the RAZR HD.

Ah, I got you. I don't have any of that problem so I wasn't sure what "laggy" was referring to. I feel for you, when my Bionic was upgraded to ICS, it went to hell. It was so slow to do *anything* that I factory reset it while I was on the road. It annoyed me to no end, but after the factory reset, it was fine. I guess that's not the case with you guys. Good luck, I hope you guys find a solution.

Funny the only lag I really had was the annoying lagging circle Widgets replaced them and the phone is smooth again.

+1. Circle widget is handy and beautiful but it seems pretty laggy. it always redraws when backing out of camera. I think disabling circle widget and google+ will remove most lags if not perfectly.

The only reason I'm still using google+ is the picasa photo gallery in it because moto/verizon blocked it from stock gallery app. Is there any app, way to access picasa album?

Hey guys, quick question for you all with lag. Do you guys have the force gpu rendering option checked in the settings/developer options? I checked my option a while ago for funsies and I think maybe that's why I don't have any lag on my phone. Dunno if it should help or not, but maybe it's worth a shot.

Wow! I just tried this, and so far no more lag. And the whole device feels much snappier now.

Could this be the fix that works to get rid of the lag? Any downside to having that option checked?
