The cpu should be much better in the nexus but benchmarks don't really reflect that. No sd slot either. I can't see any positives about the nexus 4 from a hardware perspective
my mate has the nexus 4 and is a real nice phone and has some nice features due to better version of android but only thing i dont like about it is no sd card slot 16gb isnt enough for me.
side buy side performance wise just having a flick through with apps web browsing etc no noticeable differences and out of the benchmarks i did quadrant and antutu the nexus 4 got slightly higher scores.
Recently I was deciding between upgrading to either a Nexus 4 or S3.
The S3 won out.
Benchmarks are overall higher on the S3 (this IS a generalization).
The lack of sd card slot in the N4 was a turnoff.
The lack of removable/replaceable battery in the N4 was a turnoff.
I had to come to terms that I didn't want a double-sided glass phone in my pocket. Definitely was a turn-off for me on the iPhone 4 2.5 years ago.
The lack-luster camera reviews of the N4 and the stellar camera reviews of the S3 was the final point for me. The Camera for me is of top importance.
I'm sure for some the N4 looks like a better phone, but for me Google missed the mark on many things and Samsung seemed to do everything right on the S3.
You asked this question in the Nexus 4 forum and majority people went with the Nexus 4 to include myself. Now since this is a S3 forum expect most people to choose the S3.
Had both. The ONLY things the Nexus 4 has on the S3 is the price, comes unlocked, 4.2 and pure android (if you like that). S3 is a beast that demolishes it imho.
