I have a question in regards to the title.

Back when I first got my captivate, there were a couple changes I made like the battery meter, and then the firmware via "BUGLESS Beast" update. Both of them I installed using the Update.zip method at the stock recovery/bootloader screen.

Is that still used today to add things. features (OTG, Tethering....I don't even know what else there is.) Is there something better.....

My captivate is running the CM10 4.1.2...... I'm sure there is some cool stuff out there, that probably works better than apps in the "market." Just having a hard time catching up.

Sorry if this has been asked, but its hard to search when you mostly unfamiliar the terms.

Most mods are still done via a zip file in recovery, things like battery icons, kernels, modems etc. What sort of stuff are you after? Are there any particular apps/mods that you have seen in the market that you would rather have as a flashable zip?

I don't have your device but I will move this to the root section so someone else might be able to offer up some good things to download :)

Thanks for the correction.

Im not very sure about the compatabilty between Roms, Kernels and smaller features. Im mostly pleased with JellyBean, and im not sure what I would even change....but i can't even look for stuff because of my limited knowledge.

Things I would like to add, but not sure the best way to get there....

Wifi tether.......I downloaded an App from Play
Usb cable tether......downloaded PDAnet
OTG......I might even have this capability already...but I don't know???
