the restore process is very cpu intensive...your phone is also syncing all of your data from servers and such since you did a data wipe...plus the included ziggy kernel defaults to 1900mhz on first boot...so youre running your cpu balls out at 50% higher clock speed...you could literally be overheating the phone...
Even after finally getting it to stay cool long enough to restore all my apps it keeps over heating.
I'm going to see if I can understand the process of returning to the stock unrooted ROM. Then see if it continues to overheat, if so take into Verizon and make a warranty claim. Then upgrade to the stock Jelly Bean, because at this point I can't see any advantages to custom JB ROM's over stock. It after upgrading to the stock JB ROM it starts overheating I'll take it back to Verizon.
