Help Problems so far listed here

I got my Note 2 last Firday... STOKED

A few issues/problems...
#1 - When I hit the home button the phone DOES NOT go home, it instead goes to the home screen selection screen (not sure what that's called)

#2 - WTF does the sidebar do and how do I edit what is in it?

#3 - I can not move any apps to SD.

Other than that... Green light go.

None that you listed are issues.

1) If you're hitting the home button and it goes to the selection screen, then that means you were currently on the main homescreen.

2) multi-window...there's a thread discussing that

3) Already been discussed. New ICS and up phones removed the partition between internal storage for apps and internal storage for other functions (internal storage is one in the same for apps and whatever else now), so you cannot move apps to SD, unless you root and use the trick to make the phone view the microSD as the internal SD.

Ok, I have an ODD issues with trying to connect my Samsung NOTE 2 to my Windows 8 PC. It appears that every time I try to connect it to my PC as a MEDIA DEVICE, it is rarely recognized. However, if I switch to CAMERA mode, it picks it up right away and I can copy files to it.

However, for the phone to work with the KIES software from Samsung software, I need to connect as a Media Device. I was able to get it to connect a few times after doing the troubleshooting in KIES (where it downsloads the drivers AGAIN), but once I unplug and try to connect again, it NEVER works. I'm confused. I've tried pulling my SD card also, and that does not help.

I've tried mutliple USB cables (official and non), multiple USB ports, USB HUB, etc.

The odd thing is, it ALWAYS connects as a camera, so I know it is working. Although, when it is connected as a camera, sometimes it stops copying files as it loses connection.

Also connects fine to my wife's WIN7 laptop.

Suggestions?

Use solid explorer or airdroid to transfer files wirelessly instead.

The advantage of using solid explorer is that it allows you to set up a FTP connection that you can input directly into windows file explorer on your PC. Once you've connected, you can drag and drop files, just like you would with any other connected drive.

I can transfer as a camera, I'm just wanting to do it in MTP mode. I know the S3 for AT&T required KIES to upgrade the firmware, so if AT&T does the same with the Note 2, I'm going to need to connect via MTP

I just upgraded to a Galaxy Note 2 from the Droid RAZR and noticed how much better it is.

There is only one issue I have with the phone. If someone calls me and I respond to the phone call, I noticed a consistent beeping sound that comes from the receiver about once every 10 seconds. Initially, I thought someone else was calling me while I was on the line, but I have no missed phone call indicator after my phone conversation. I also did not receive any text messages during the phone conversation. The beeping would continue every 10 seconds until I reset the phone. This does not happen unless I answer the phone call. If I don't answer a phone call, there is no constant beeping sound.

The unusual part of this is that this doesn't happen every time someone calls me. It occurs about half of my phone calls.

I'm getting tired of resetting my phone every time I get this issue.

Does anyone have any suggestions in resolving this issue?

Look at post 74 above. Only way I've gotten my phone working normal again is to reboot it. At first I thought I had a bad usb cable but I happen to reboot the phone and noticed all was working again. No idea what the problem is.

since yesterday my note 2 is not charging and completely Dead since no battery juice left, try rebooting, pulling battery, cleaning the port, swapping USB cables. Call ATT rep they sending me a refurbished Expedited Mail.

Sound like minute reminder enabled.

From dialer screen - Menu/ Call settings/ Call alerts/ Call status tones UNCHECK minute reminder.

3) You can move apps to SD with directory bind application. I just moved about 5gb off internal memory to SD and all the applications work fine still. This method was a total life saver. I was down to 800 mb the day I turned on my phone. Honestly, I had to leave some apps off my phone since moving from my Droid X 8gb phone since the stupid Note 2 with 16gb is INCAPABLE of holding them! Who would have figured 16gb is smaller than 8gb, 2 year old technology?! Figuratively speaking that is.
This is NOT the same as mentioned above about swapping the internal memory with the SD card. Directory Bind moves your apps to the SD card.

Ya mine dies that too, its almost like it froze but it hasn't. I think it has something to do with the fact that its looking in the SD card

Thanks for posting that up. I wasn't aware of this method.

FYI, for those that don't know, it still requires rooted phone.

there is customizable button left of space button, long press and click to change that button to a comma.

This is on samsung keyboard on AT&T Galaxy note 2

Thanks for this tip. It does work, but it doesn't stay. Every time I go to send a txt message, it's back to the microphone icon, not the comma. Do you know if you can make it stay as a comma?

It worked perfectly for 2 weeks until the last few days it will constantly announce when I open/close a folder, when I open a message it doesn't read it immediately but when I touch the screen to move down, it overlays a "square" on text and reads it out loud. Also, when I access a web page it will read out all text on page and any text input..except when I enter passwords it reads "dot.dot.dot".

I have disabled the Drive Mode, TalkBack, Speak Passwords, Google Voice Typing, and in Speech Output I have alernated between Google text-to-Speech & Samsung TTS (there is only the option to select one of them in the Text to Speech Output menu). I have restarted the phone, removed battery, etc and also uninstalled any apps installed the last few days.

Is anyone else having this issue?

Hi!!
I am a new member to the Forum and this is my first post.
I am facing a peculiar issue with my Note II.
Whenever I swipe my hand over the three sensors on top (1 camera and 2 sensors), the LED Indicator blinks blue once.
When I contacted Samsung care, they advised me to factory re-set the phone and then the problem (if this is a problem at all) vanished for next few hours.
However, since morning (i re-set the phone last night) the same issue still appears that whenever I swipe my hand over the sensors for 'Quick Glance', the LED Indicator blinks once with blue color.
Can anyone please throw some light on this??

Hey there and welcome to AF
I turned Quick Glance back on to see if anything lights up- not something I ever noticed before and it didn't.
By any chance are you using any LED app on your phone?
How long have you had your phone and when did this start happening?

Thanks for your response @ScandaLex
No application installed for managing the LED on phone
Have had my phone for about a month now and this is the first time I have enabled the quick glance function.
To double check I even tried the thing out on my friend's note and the results confirms to yours. No lights.
The problem seemed to be addressed when I reset the phone last night but seems to have come back today morning.

Had my phone for a little over a month and the only problems I have is.

1. Getting texts from Iphone users (fixed this by downloading Go SMS pro and setting this as my default message app.)

2. My standard email icon only shows that i have new email when i actually go into the app and refresh the loader button (anyone know a fix for this so I can tell if i have new email or not without actually loading the app?) i'm willing to try and new mail app if needed.

I honestly haven't used Quick Glance (and prefer not to), so couldn't really give you an assessment on what it could be. Sounds odd that the function would just turn the LED's on. Are you sure it's not just a coincidence with your being notified of an incoming message at the same time? Or is it consistently blinking every time, even without a notification coming in?

Yup.. checked it many times.
Even the re-setting the phone did not help.
Today got a call from Samsung saying that it seems like an issue with the firmware and advised me to take my phone to a service station where they will reload the firmware.
Can I somehow do that at home??

I prefer Swiftkey to samsung's on screen keyboard and I'm using a bluetooth keyboard occaisionally. At every provcation the samsung keyboard wants to replace Swiftkey. The bluetooth keyboard has compatibility problems depending on the application I'm typing in. Sometimes it doesn't know it's supposed to type in english and offers accented versions of letters. Again, depending on the application I'm typing in the keys repeat too easily on the BT keyboard even if I disable repeating keys. I suspect this is a Samsung/Android issue, not the aftermarket keyboards.

Otherwise, the N2 is a challenge to carry and handle because of it's size but it fits in my pants pocket and I haven't dropped it yet. I like the phone. (it's my first smart phone, six weeks, so I have no previous experience for comparison)
