Official Vehicle Dock

I think I am going to go forward with my next choice decision for a car dock I have had enough endless teasing for a plastic dock, worse than Apple.

This was added to Amazon today and is not $39.99, not eligible for free shipping or Amazon Prime, not available in December and says for HTC with no mention of Samsung Note 2.

I'm so glad I remembered this post from earlier.
When I read it and clicked your link I said right then and there this is going to be for the Note 2......well, low and behold......guess what????
There's been an update over at XDA regarding the iBolt Note 2 dock and guess what dock it is...........YEP....this one right here they have advertised for the HTC DNA.

They changed the name and now it's just iBOLT xProDock Kit for Samsung

iBOLT xProDock Kit for HTC yesterday this dock was $45 now it's $39.95

iBOLT xProDock Kit for Samsung $39.95

Click both links you'll see it's the same dock.

Probably the only thing different with both is the orientation of the charging cable. Most phones I had have the orientation of the charging port opposite (180

And now the Samsung link is inactive! This whole iBolt story is a farse and I hope the company learns from it - I was only one little potential customer but experience tells me their handling of this represents what to expect afterwards.

So.... Just so I am clear, this one "iBOLT xProDock Kit for Samsung $39.95" will or will not be for the Note II?

Also as I have never bought this brand before, I am assuming the charge cable isn't hardwired to it so just in case you need a longer cable you can use one.

Viro

According to the Amazon site, the iBolt

Works with most Samsung phones, up to the size of Note II

The Samsung link worked for me.

However, it's not due out until Jan 7th according to the site.

I'm going to buy one....only because it says that it works with the Defender cases. We will see...

I'm using Mountek.

Review: Mountek nGroove Universal CD Slot Mount - YouTube

The best mount IMO. The location is perfect compared to Vent & Windshield mounts.

This dock sucks. I got it and now returning it. I like how it holds the phone, but it doesn't hold solid to the CD slot on my Acura stereo. It wobbles around and I am afraid to tighten it too much as I don't want to break something inside of my stereo.

People were waiting for the famed ibolt dock and this is no different. Positive spring load, manually plug in phone cord, works with cases, land scape and portrait. Wish ibolt was a custom dock, but its just another generic dock in a market of generic docks. We need a custom built powered dock for the note. Good find and $22 cheaper.

Wife got me this:
KiDiGi Car Mount Cradle with Hands Free DC Charger for Galaxy Note 2 CS2 SGN2 | eBay
for Christmas. She only paid $40 for it though. Works pretty good either with or without a case which is nice. The charger it comes with is kinda flimsy. It came apart when I tried to unplug it. It may be because of the way my car's upper 12v outlet is designed, it is recessed and the plug is small so there isn't much to grab a hold of when you are unplugging it. Works fine in my lower outlet but that is kind of awkward because the lower mount is inside the center console. I'm still trying to figure out where to mount it where it won't block too much of my view.

Amen! We just need a custom powered dock working with or without cases which the long promised iBolt is not. GN2 screams Dock Me so it is beyond me why one of the major dock builders does not offer one.

I also picked up the Tetrax but I am having an issue with it staying on the vent. I have cranked down on the tension dial as hard as I can (by hand) but the weight of the Note II has caused it to fall more than three times now.

I have also verified the vent isn't sliding down where gravity is helping to pull it off the vent.

This is kind of disappointing, it looks like it has promise but just won't hold.

I also made the mistake of using the shimmed disc first to mount on my case but that limited the amount of tension from the case pressing against the "X" rubber stabilizers and thus caused the phone to spin over time on the base from vibrations in the road.

Hmmm...that blows. Although I'm kind of surprised because I previously had a droid x and that thing would stick like glue to the tetrax. I looked at the difference in weight between the two and it's only an ounce. Hopefully I don't have that same issue.

I just got a note 2 and am waiting for the new disc I bought to be shipped. I'll let you know how it goes.

Will do asap...Its not ideal but the note 2 does fit into my existing note 1 dock.Like I said it charges fine but alas no audio out so I have the cumbersome lead hanging out for audio.
Personally I would not recommend the expense unless its really cheap.
This is just a workaround until something of the same spec comes on the market for the note 2. Really do not like having to plug in wires etc... Which is why I was thrilled with my first Note 1 and dock ideal :)
Yep those folks at marketing always looking for a quick buck..Lol

As in Note 1 car dock?...You're the first person that's come in here saying it does work because some people on XDA were saying that it didn't. I didn't want to pony up the money to buy the Note 1 dock, unless I felt that there was a way to make it work.

Can you take some pics of it docked, so that I can get a better idea? I was seriously contemplating getting a Note 1 dock and modifying it to work, but there were quite a few reports that it didn't, that I held back.

So, what you're saying is it doesn't support usb music through the rear 3.5mm aux output in the back?

As for why Samsung didn't release one at launch, it's because they chose to go the "universal" route. That was likely a "cost cutting" measure, while still being able to have decent sales for the universal. I'd imagine that business decision was made based on the profit margin between manufacturing the vehicle specific mounts vs. mounts actually sold...probably wasn't very good at all.

Merlin...because of your post, I already ordered one from Samsung's website using my 50% off coupon. The audio out part doesn't bother me because I purchased this from ebay (it was sold out through the samsung website):

HS3000 Bluetooth Stereo Headset kit, Black

I originally was using a bluetooth adaptor from ebay, which still worked fine, but this one has 3 different audio level settings built in (so it makes the audio output in the car sound even better) and also has a on/off switch (rather than just a toggle button). On top of that, it's a microUSB charging port, so I can use my existing car charger, rather than the miniUSB charging port on the ebay one.

Once I get it, I'm going to play around and make it work. Once I've successfully done that, I'll possibly do a video and take some pictures. I just refuse to believe all the folks that were saying it doesn't work.

Does anyone know if there is a good quality friction mount? I have a friction mount on my Garmin unit and it's just plop on dash board, adjust and go. Best thing is no suction cups, vents, etc to deal with. It's litterally plop on dashboard and go. It's also ball jointed, so it's easy to adjust viewing degrees, etc.
