How many of you guys use a stylus with your S3?

I'm just curious to see just how many people use a stylus with their Galaxy S3. I just got my iKross stylus off of amazon today. it is a fine tip just like the C-pen, but much cheaper and I'm sure not as perfect...right off the bat I can tell that about 25% of the time, it can't recognize the stylus so if it is a matter of the quality of this particular one, I might get the C-pen.

Anyway, how many of you guys use a stylus, and if so, which one, and how do you like it?

:D

Yeah I can understand that. I only got the stylus because it seemed cool, and I hate fingerprints all over the screen so I will see over a longer period of time how it turns out. fortunately almost all styli have pocket clips like real pens so that should hopefully make it easier to keep track of!

I would think that at least a few GS3 users like a stylus! :)

Perhaps....I'm sure others will chime in.
And I can see your point about fingerprints. I find myself constantly wiping the screen.:)
However, just tonite, I put a Zagg protector on it...screen and back...we'll see how the fingerprint issue goes with that.
I guess with a pen, it would be easier to type. I do find myself typing the wrong letter sometimes, but now I use the Swype keyboard.
I guess it's a matter of preference. :)

Yeah. I do like using my fingers because I can type much much faster that way, but that is about the only benefit that I personally have. With the stylus, I find it easier to type the correct keys (although being slower is the only downside). hitting small links without zooming in a crazy amount is also a nice bonus. of course the drawing for stuff like S Note reminders is great as well..only downside is that with any stylus, it is not 100% perfect and it will not always register with the screen, and when drawing there will be some skips here and there.

I do not use one, my fingertip works fine. I think it would be difficult to keep track of where your pen is when you need it, unless you have a case that has a slot for it.

I bought a pen awhile back, just to see how it worked, and it worked great. It did at times leave little circle marks, but they are great for finger print problems.

Funny thing that you mentioned, I already lost my pen within a few weeks of owning one.:D

Do I feel that it was useful enough to get another?>...Nah, Fingers work just fine.

I have a number of cases and was looking for a sleek place to stash the pen, but never found one. Just no where to keep the pen.

I don't use one but my wife does because of her long fingernails.
I bite mine so it's not an issue. haha
The ends of my fingers are like a fat stylus.
works for me.

As far as fingerprints I just got in the habit of every time I pull the phone out of the holster I wipe it against my shirt on the way up to my greasy face. Same in reverse going back in.

I've been using cheapo stylus from an Amazon Hong Kong seller. I got 4 black ones dirt cheap. It's great to leave one in the kitchen so you don't have to wash or wipe your hands to answer calls or texts. I also use one to surf the web and read articles while I'm relaxing on the couch. That's why I bought them. My right thumb is jacked up from doing construction work and working as a chef, so one hand scrolling causes some discomfort after a few minutes. I use the Swype keyboard no problem with it.

Two drawbacks are that I scratched my home screen and screen using it to press the home key, the other is that it is a big fat soft tip. However the tip always registers when it touches the screen, the back and menu buttons can be hard to hit though if you have them turned off like I do.

A stylus on an S3 is just like having a smaller finger, unlike on devices like tablets and the Note II, which can interface with an intelligent stylus that transmits pressure levels etc. So, no, I've never bothered with one on my S3. I did think about getting a Note II because I thought I'd be able to use it as a graphics pad in conjunction with Photoshop running on my PC, but I was told that it wouldn't be possible.

Yeah I do understand your guys' concerns with losing it, and I will have to use it for a while longer before I can tell for myself whether keeping it in my pocket is too much of a hassle.

Funkylogik, as far as I know, if it is a stylus specifically designed for the Tablet, it will not work on the S3...it's kind of confusing, but if I am thinking correctly, the cheapo fat soft tip ones that are everywhere will work on all of the devices, but the ones specifically designed for each device only work on that device. for example, C-pen works *only* on S3, the S-pen works *only* on Note 2, etc etc.

I, too, got a set of four of them from a Hong Kong seller on eBay for a total (including shipping) of, like, $4. I keep one at work, one in my truck, one at home on the side table next to my recliner and one at home on my nightstand. I love them as I use them on both my phone and my Kindle Fire.

I have seen those bamboo ones before. I am beginning to wonder if the lack of perfect response I am seeing with my stylus is just the quality or if they all would be like that, even the C-pen which is designed specifically for the S3. I do like the fine tip like the one i have and the C-pen in comparision to ones like the Bamboo or the HongKong ones :p

Does having a screen protector affect the sensitivity of these pens, pls?

I have a C-pen, screen protector, but have given up using it as I didn't find it very good, didn't always activate keys when typing and too much of a delay when trying to write (only got the second half of the word).

I'd like to be able to use it but now just use one of the smaller tip cheapie pens.

Thanks for any advice

I don't get the point of using one, but I don't see how a rubber tip could scratch Gorilla Glass? Odd.

It scratched because the top is so soft when I pressed the home button the body of the stylus hit the phone. The home button has around ten small scratches and the glass next to it has a few tiny little nick like scratches next to it where there is no protector.

The stylus works fine with the fairly thick screen protector my commuter came with.

After my first reply to this thread, I actually find my self using a stylus all the time. It works so well, and get anal with having a clean screen and this works perfect at keeping it clean. Using the stylus has become second nature now.

The problem was, before Walgreens was selling crappy ones where the rubber tip barely poked above a steel casing, making it difficult to use and leaving a possibility of scratches.

They now sell much better ones (they are usually at the checkout line) where the entire tip is rubber. I bought a few cause I lose these things, but they work great.

I'm not interested in the bulky big more expensive ones. I love the small ones that they sell. Works perfectly.
