Root [DEV] WIP CM9 (Camera) [updated 2/23/2013]

I really appreciate all you are doing, I am paitent...hopefully when it is all done, one of you guys can re-root my phone. If anyone lives close enough by I can bring it , otherwise I will fedex it it to you, so you can do it for me, I will ...OF COURSE.. pay you whatever for doing it for me, as I have a guy who sometimes does computer stuff for me. I have since downloaded "questionable" videos, in his opnion, so I don't want to take a chance on him wiping my downloads off my phone.

Are you the guy with the difficulty seeing the phone?

Incredible. And just in time, as I need to take some pictures for school this week. Perhaps I can use an alternate camera app to save the pics. Haven't tried yet. I know it's been said so many times already, but thank you guys so much for your dedication to this phone.

Also, I'm curious, now that you've basically gotten the harder problems out of the way, what do you see in the future of the development of these roms? Once we get the camera fully sorted out, will it be easier to incorporate the rest of the fixes into CM9 and CM10? I know the transition from GB to ICS has been a long and difficult one for the entire Android community, but surely the transition from ICS to JB shouldn't be as difficult, correct?

Thanks. Really, thanks.

Yeah runkin has been working on data. Once the camera is 100% should be easy to move over. As for taking pictures only the panorama works but not well it's out of focus.

I might try, but I'm afraid I will lose what I already have put on it.

Well ROMming doesn't mess with the SDcard. Even if it did, you could back it up to a folder on a computer. That leaves the OS side. ROMming will erase most of your app's data when the apps rebuild their cache or try to use old data and need to be redone anyway. And that brings us to the idea of doing a factory reset in ClockWorkRecovery. That will erase your cache and data partitions, thus removing the "you" out of the phone. And we will tell you to do it if any problems arise.

I guess what I am getting to is, what are you afraid of loosing? We can guide you. And if someone says something wrong I'm sure that someone else would correct it. Then you would just have to see who was right.

I don't know what I did, but now my Triumph keeps rebooting after the red "M". I flashed this ROM using b_randon14's CWM based recovery v6.0.1.9

I flashed the 20121231 update in /alpha directory, and then when it didn't work (did what I explained above), flashed the "Ed-MTDEV-CM9-Kernel.zip" from the same folder on the site. It still reboots.

Ok, let's backup for a moment. Try to check the checksum if you can. Or maybe just try to redownload the ROM. And make sure to do the factory reset.

It still doesn't store the picture but the display now works!!!! It's off set but that is easy enough to fix!!! Here is the new Beta ROM! The reason for the date is 31 is I started the build yesterday!!

Edit: It does store panorama pictures!

Very nice work, guys! Congrats.

Have you tried third party camera apps ?

A big thanks and kudos to G60 and all the developers who directly and indirectly are working on upgrades.

I don't frequently use the cameras or camcorders in the phone but do on occasion. The LG camera and LG Camcorder available in the playstore has the most tweaks and adjustments of any camera software I have found (so far).

After a reboot the digital zoom works and the autoexposure seems to work on all the cameras I have tested. I can sometimes use the settings menu to changes frame rates and image or video size (on the LG), but the camera will stop responding at some point and obviously, without it recording, it's hard to say if these adjustments are actually working. As stated by G60 many camera functions are not working which is completely understandable ...On the stock camera, ICS camera and LG cameras, the exposure compensation and most other tweaks that changes the on screen image quality real time don't work (yet). However I can change the settings in the menus some of the time. The LG camera sometimes goes blank image but after a reboot the image is back, unless I tried one of the other cameras first.

I must say that the LG camera and camcorder are excellent for checking many camera functions not available on most if not all other camera apps. Exposure compensation and adjustments are far more adjustable and some older versions of this camera were actually almost working on older CM beta and alpha roms ...where it wouldn't crash... where the stock cameras did during testing... That is not the case for the current version of the app and it does not respond more frequently then the stock or ICS camera apps but that may help in the logcats...???

Otherwise I have found the Rom to be very responsive and smooth....Keep up the great work and thanks for all your efforts on this mostly fun to use phone. For now I will probably go back to the Sharp Rom but look forward to when this camera is all or mostly functioning!!!!
