I have my contacts saved to Outlook. I need to sync these to my phone. When I go into the sync manager, they dont sync and sync manager shows that it has never synced. What gives?

I have tried syncing with Outlook before but it didn't work either. What I did is transferred my Outlook contacts to my Gmail (Google) account, added that account on my device, and all the contacts were transferred easily.
Here's how you do that:
Export Outlook Contacts to Google Gmail - Outlook - Office.com
And when you're on your device, just go to the Accounts & Sync tab in Settings, tap the "+" sign to add a new account, tap Google, and enter the email address's details, check on Contacts and then set Syncing to Automatic. It should take 5 - 10 minutes depending on the amount of contacts, of course sometimes less if you don't have many.
