How's the battery life?

I have a question. I have the same GSam app on my phone, the pro version and the free. I don't have the second from the left icon at the bottom of my screen when I go into the app. Anyone know what that is, and why I don't see it?

I'm a true believer of DS Battery Saver, which I only use prior to going to bed. Since it forces deep sleep while the phone is on standby, it still allows my phone to wake me up if I get any incoming calls and my daily alarm clock for the work week, while also making sure that the battery doesn't drain unnecessarily from pulling data. Because of that app, I've been able to maintain my daily use, while also getting closer to the 24 hours that I got when first getting the phone!

I'm a happy camper.

Now I definitely need to check it out. It's not harmful like juice defender was? JD ruined my Evo battery.

Really? People talk about Juice Defender like it's the best thing since Android was created. I think you're the first person who said JD did something wrong. Ha!

I swear my battery was not the same after using it. I'm skeptical of using it on the Note 2. But I definitely want to try out the app DrEx uses.

I also wasn't crazy about JD back when I installed it on my wife's old Fascinate. Unless I didn't configure something correctly, I swear it was draining more juice rather than defending it

Recently, I discovered a very nice free app called Extended Battery Life - LOVE IT!!! I have it configured to bare minimum in advance mode (mostly to control wi-fi/bluetooth and night-time power saving) - and it really helps to keep battery drain down whenever phone screen is off. Give it a shot.

I never had any problems with Juice Defender on my Evo. Stopped using it with my MoPho because of Motorola's battery saving options built in.

That said, I think it works perfectly, but I don't leave it on during the day, just because I only need it to hold better battery life while I'm sleeping (Noticed too much drop off, after going to bed), since the only thing that I need the phone to stay on for is for any emergency phone calls I might receive. All my emails/notifications can wait until the morning. Using the DS Battery Saver, with Blocking Mode and Power Save mode has kept battery drain to between 5-10% vs. the 18-20% I was getting (even with my schedule to not push emails during my normal sleeping hours).

Not at all. I kept it as is when app was loaded, which is on Balance mode. I should try it on Aggressive or Slumberer, to see if it sustains even better battery life while I'm sleeping.

I just got my new N2 today at 11:30 am, 10 hours ago.. been configuring the ADW EX launcher, texting, installing widgets and apps and taking calls (only about 20 minutes worth altogether), etc and the bat meter is right now at 68%.

When I go to bed at 10:30pm I have like 38% of battery still left where as when I had HTC Desire HD I would have to charge it when I got home from work at 7pm as it would be red

and I had to switch off wifi and data settings to keep some battery too as I had a bit of a drive home

Maybe it's me but I honestly don't get this whole calibrate battery thing.
Maybe that applied to older phones in the past but now. .....I just can't see the point.

The days of calibrating batteries have come and gone a long time ago. The batteries used on these cell phones now do not need any conditioning or calibration. Just use the phone and enjoy it.

Thats crazy, my Note 2 stock when I left it untouched at home with power saving enabled and while on wifi lost 8% battery life from full charge over the course of 10hrs. Thats with some emails coming in and texts. Not bad and no, I was not sleeping for 10hrs lol.

It's partly because my room is in the part of my house that's furthest away from the wifi router and my area has probably one of the worst cell phone signal strength connection in most of Los Angeles.

I tried JD and since my battery life has been worse. I uninstalled it and still bad life. I was getting much better before it.

You didn't read my post. I did state that battery is battery, but the OS needs a few runs to REPORT/calibrate the proper %. IE if it shows 5% left, you might have 15% of usable battery left.

This is common android knowledge.

I average about 16 to 18 hours with moderate use, but with very heavy use I can drain the battery in 5 to 6 hours. The longest I've been without swapping batteries was around 1 day and 3 hours +.

Never had a phone that I can do so much, last this long.

I average about 3 to 4 hours with moderate use, but with very heavy use I can drain the battery in under an hour. The longest I've been without swapping batteries was around a day, but the screen was never on.
