Root Flashed Latest RUU - Only Thing that Changed was the HBOOT to 2.09

Hi everyone,

I had my HTC EVO LTE rooted using REGAMOD but kept S-ON and TWRP was flashed as recovery. Phone was having massive issues with repeated SMS. So I saw that there was a new RUU for JellyBean. I then locked my bootloader using adb ""fastboot oem-lock" so I could flash the new RUU. RUU said congrats everything successful but only managed to upgrade the HBOOT.

RUU updated the HBOOT to 2.09 but nothing else updated. Once phone rebooted accounts software etc all the same.

Ran older RUU but it checks HBOOT and does not allow it to flash.

Does anyone have any advice on what I can do next?

I have Adroid SDK running.

I tried to flash TWRP using GooManager but that did not work. I then tried to flash TWRP using android command "fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.3.3.0-jewel.img" but I am getting a signature failed.

I am assuming that since my phone is relocked its not allowing the file to run. Is there a way to unlock it again with adb? I tried "fastboot oem-unlock" but that did not work.

If you ran the JellyBean RUU it should have updated everything, the radios the hboot and the software.

Do me a favor and go under Settings / About / Software and post up your baseband number. This is your radio. :)

If you relocked your bootloader, all you have to do is unlock from HTCdev. Flash a custom recovery, then flash a rooted rom, and you're rooted again.

There are two routes you can go at this point depending on your radio version:

If your radios were updated, you got the best part of the update imho, and all you really need to do is HTCdev and get S-on root that way.

If you didn't get the radios, you'll either want to retry the RUU or go for full S-off to get the firmware update.

Syi is correct, S-off did just drop for the 2.09 hboot, which is awesome BTW. :)

This guide will explain how to do the HTCdev bootloader unlock, and provides a link tothe Teaam Unlimited site if you choose to go for full S-off:

If you get stuck, or have any questions, ask away. Thats why we're here. :)
