The battery life is worse for sure, but it's not horribly or even much worse. Hell it barely gets in the way of my usage, but that's pretty much it. Of course I'm on the Maxx so I have a bit more battery to work with. Not sure how much it will affect the percentages on the standard. If I had to average it, I'd say maybe an extra two percent per hour of usage? Or thereabouts.

Unless I'm imagining it, streaming on Netflix seems to be more jerky with that option enabled. Any reason that might be?

I can't see why that would be happening. I don't have netflix to test it with, but how about a video on youtube? I just tested mine to make sure and it is definitely still running smooth while streaming an HD video. Try looking up a video with fast motions involved (my go to is anything involving motor racing) and compare it with the option on and off.

Didn't see a difference with locally stored video, or with what I streamed on You Tube, but Netflix really seemed to be affected. Could just be coincidence, since their streaming quality and speed can vary...

Yeah could just be down to Netflix. The problem with changing an option like this is that you become hypersensitive to the lag, or lack of. I feel the same way about the Seeder app that was posted here before. Not entirely sure if that's placebo or actually helpful yet. Give it a run for a few days and see how it handles overall. You can always just uncheck the option should it give you a problem. But like I said, had it enabled for weeks and no problems here.

Instead of enabling GPU rendering in developer options, I changed window, transition, animation scales to 0.5X from default 1X. It feels much faster even with circle widget, google+ in use. There seem to be very tiny lags sometimes but it's much better in fluidity of screen transitions, swiping, etc.

since upgrading to JB from ICS my battery life sucks and my phone is laggy. and you cant even mount your friggin SD card to your computer since they took that option out! eff you motorola, back to ICS

My guess is that it is trying to process everything via software instead of hardware, which is why it's causing a lot of lag and stuttering. This is just a guess though, but forcing the GPU to do the rendering would result in benefits, since it's pretty much designed to do video processing.

As far as changing the transition scales, I wouldn't have imagined that to fix the problem. I thought that if the device was stuttering, then removing the transition altogether would make it seem worse because there's nothing in between the action and result. That's good to know that it helps though.

It doesn't remove the transition altogether unless you set the scale factor to none (0X). It simply reduces the transition time by half (0.5X). But it feels more than twice faster and seems more stutter free than default setting.

I just enabled that option as well in developers options. Also disabled Google+. I do think there are some merits to the circles being the main culprit to the lag though, my circle app has not been the same since JB. Always is behind on time and has to redraw and correct itself. It most definitely did not do that in ICS.

I'll be following this thread as both of our Razr Maxx HD's are horribly laggy since the JB update and I've tried most of the suggestions I've seen posted so far. Currently in safe mode and working as it should. My RAM available is about 125-150MB normally, and a little over 300MB in safe mode.

Disabling Google+ & Google Now, installing the Seeder APK and Animation Speed to. 5x solved 98% of my lag issues.

Well, after running safe mode for a while and seeing my available RAM sitting over 300MB I realized I needed my apps to go to the gym. When I restarted, I chose not to use SwiftKey as I'd noticed it seemed to tie up a fair amount of memory. So far, I haven't opened many other apps, just Pandora and Fitness Buddy, but I'm not in safe mode and I'm at over 300MB free still. I doubt that one thing was the big culprit, but maybe it's a step in the right direction.

Phone is running much better for now, and the stock keyboard is actually not bad at all.

My lag is seriously reduced without Google+ running and with that developers GPU option turned on. I think it would be fully gone if I got rid of the circle app but I like that feature and my lag is really no longer an issue now.

Yep, same here. I'm now back to being happy with my phone. I disabled Google+, turned on the GPU Rendering option and also reduced my transition time to .5 as mentioned earlier in this thread. I also kept the circles widget and it lags a little bit, but I like the widget more than the small lag annoys me, so it stays. I'm sure if I got rid of that, the phone would be lag free and if I went to a launcher, it would be even faster still. I've been like this for a couple days and have been satisfied thus far with the snappiness and quickness which has now returned to my phone post GB. I've also not noticed any negatives by performing the above, at least not yet.

I've made the identical setting tweaks to my Maxx HD as well, and it's running like a charm so far...
