Help Problems with my Note

Heya all,

I've been having problems with my note and was wondering you guys could tell me if its most likely the battery or hardware.

I've had the note for approx 8 months.

But recently I've been noticing that its slow when typing text messages. But thats the minor issue the main issue is the charging.

A few days ago I was charging the note over night and it got extremely hot, and I took it off charge, took the mobile off and cooled it down and charged it later and all seemed to be fine.

But yesterday when coming back from my exams (where the mobile had been off all the time), the mobile was being very slow and then suddenly after a reboot the battery went from 75% to 10 %. And the next hour it moved up and down 11%-10% until it drained.

I thought it was strange but like normal put it back on charge and went to sleep. But when I woke up it was only 75% charged and not moving. Took it off charge and the drainage of battery was crazy fast.

Put it on charge again and its been on for the last 7 hours and hasn't move more then 17%. The minute I take the charge off the battery just dies extremely fast

Tried to do a system reboot (volume+power+home button), typing *2767*3855# even went though setting etc. But nothing works. It keeps saying resetting and doesnt move. After waiting like 15 minutes I took the battery out each time.

I tried different chargers so not a charger fault. I don't have an extra battery to try.

Please help. What do you guys think the problem is?

Thanks:(

Recently had exactly the same problem. Found out that the CPU was running constantly at 1400MHz state, hence the phone getting really hot and discharging so quickly.

Download CPU SPY from Google Play and see at what CPU state the phone is typically running at. Then if you notice that the 1400MHz state is taking up most of the state time, then there is a program which is buggy.

Then, you need to find out which aplication is using all the CPU's resources. You then need to download Better Battery Stats. It costs something like $2 and will tell you which applications are at a PARTIAL WAKELOCK.

For me, it was mail exchange service (under applications) which was taking up most of the CPU.

The remedy for me was to remove ALL accounts under Accounts and Sync and re-activate them all one by one, e-mail accounts, Twitter, FB, etc.

Since then, my phone goes into deep sleep mode when idle and 200MHz state when used normally and doesn't get hot and lasts as it should.

Hi Peaceful.

I just experienced your situation about 3 months ago. And it happened after i updated to 4.0.4. Same pattern as your case.

I thought it had to do with the update, but the next day, dunno why something triggered me to open the back cover and take a look at my battery.

I opened it and my battery was swollen. Made a run to the store and bought a new battery.

Fixed it, and it is back to normal. Try to check your battery to see for signs of swell or bruise. Place it on your desk, if it is not level or there is a hump...just change it.

Best regards.

Thanks for the reply guys.

I put the mobile on kies and I don't see any updates. So probably have the lated updates.

Brought a new battery and it hasnt seemed to help much :s But how charges up to 82% and the battery drainage is slower (bot not as good as I remembered it to be).

Got the mobile to reboot after the battery charged a bit more. So don;t have many apps on now.

But I have noticed that the charge goes on and off if I move the mobile. So makes me think they might be a problem with the charging point.

I look after my mobile really well and cant remember dropping it or messing around with the charging point. (The only thing I do do is keep losing my s-pen >_<)

Would this be under warranty?

One thing I've always had problems with is getting my kies to connect to my mobile. Always takes a few tries
