Hi gang - I'm hoping someone here can lend me a hand.

I've got a request for a wallpaper for a Galaxy Note 2. Only 2 problems with that:

1: The person requesting it doesn't have the SGN2 yet, and thus can't help me figure out the proper size.

2: And I can't seem to find a conclusive answer on what size (resolution) it should be.

The most common sizes I've seen recommended are 1920x1280, 1600x1280, 1440x1280 and (less often - doubt this one could be right) 1280x1280. If it helps, here's a post in which I've made test wallpapers in those sizes. If someone could try these out and let me know which one works best, with the least amount of cropping that'd be great.

Any help I can get here would be greatly appreciated. TIA.

From other devices that have similar resolutions and aspect ratio (e.g. 1280X720 / 16:9), I've seen it mentioned that 1440X1280 is the best for HD wallpapers.

I should add that, this is for scrolling wallpapers (which I assumed was a stock function of Android, but the more I read, I'm gathering there are some phones that have static wallpaper).

Now, I do want to ask, how easy would it be to create animated GIF wallpapers in HD resolution? I'd be highly interested in that for sure. With the Note 2, I'm likely to use the animated GIF Live wallpaper app more often, considering the battery power the Note 2 has, which by all accounts I've seen is amazing.

For the most part, I've created my own wallpapers (for my needs) and have been able to create some decent ones...but I'm no "expert," so some of the ones I made for myself (based on cropped HD desktop wallpapers) are somewhat crude and those were static pictures.

Mmmm that's true. I may finally be able to use Live wallpapers without sacrificing much battery power :D

So I have been getting alot inconclusive answers for the size of wallpaper for the Note 2 when researching it. I don't know if someone else has posted the answer here, but I pulled the Note default wallpaper off of my phone and it was 1280x1280. I resized all of my wallpaper (1440x1280 coming from the rezound) to that size and they look amazing! I no longer have to crop them either.

I've been painfully searching for wallpapers for this phone. Any other look so blurry and grainy. I guess I need to learn how to make them now that I know the real size.

Okay I am confused. The Note II screen resolution is 720x1280. If the wallpaper is 1280x1280, wouldn't the phone has to crop the image to fit the screen?

I have no idea about that, but the Samsung wallpaper is definitely 1280x1280. My Rezound used 1440x1280 or 720x1480 and I was having to crop those. Since I resized I dont have to crop anymore.

Here's the link for my wallpapers. Pretty much all but a few came from Zedge on my Rezound and I just resized them. Feel free to take the ones you want!

So I want to make my own wallpapers on my computer bc I can't find any that I like. Lol. I'm just wondering what is the correct wallpaper size so that the image fits inside the crop box, without looking distorted or to small. Thanks

I think the screen resolution, 1280 (vertical) by 720 (horizontal) pixels. When the "crop box" appears, just press the square icon left of the Cancel button and select Portrait.
