Can we throw all these 2.1 threads in a sub-forum or delete a bunch? I wanted to go ahead and try 2.1 but every thread has only bits and pieces of info I'm looking for, ie:

1. where do I get the best version xda have worked up so far?

2. are all the features working in the leaked version? if not, what's missing at this point?

3. does the market recognize the leaked version?

4. does Pandora work?

5. is it worth switching to now vs waiting on the official release?

1. Sdx website get DD03

2. Everything is there gotta add through recovery, only thing missing is multitouch

3. I want to say yes butno, the marektplace works but protected apsp won't show up.

4. Yes with a quick fix.

5. This is opinion based I would say yes, if you want root to be fully working wait till joey gets it fully working, other than that have anymore questions?

1.SDX Android 2.1 - All the Release Info

2.Android 2.1 DD03 Bugs

Everything except in the link above is working.

3. My market works great but sometimes i get data lockup and have to re-search

4.[Solved] - Android 2.1 - Streaming Apps

5. Its a matter of opinion, i personally think it works good enough for regular use. I unplugged it at around 11:30 this morning and i'm current 40% (battery). So its a little less battery then i'm used to but i also have a live wallpaper running, so maybe that's why the battery is a little worse.

Hope this helped

1.) xda hasnt gotten anything yet, sdx does, ur best bet is Calkulin's ROM over here [ ROM ] [ v1.0 ] Calkulin's Moment 2.1 ROM
2.) read over what Calkulin's ROM contains, it has everything u can find for the moment so far, like live wallpapers, N1 launcher, and it is rooted
3.) well the market is still a lil messed up, u can get a lot of 2.1 apps, but some apps wont show up
4.) Pandora will work after u fix the streaming issue, a guide to fix it can be found over here http://androidforums.com/samsung-moment/61646-those-you-who-have-2-1-streaming-apps-fix.html
5.) it matters what u want, with 2.1 there are many updates and the data speed is atleast twice as fast. but there are also many bugs which the guys over at sdx are working on since this isnt the final release

i wouldnt go with calkulin's for now, because the v2 root causes major lag. Just wait till they get effective root access too root, its not worth it right now.

Twitching - yeah just do same thing as calkulins rom with the v4 but you wont have root with v4 but v4 seems to run best for now.

edit - let me rephrase use calkulin's with v2 boot up then do whatever you need to with root then switch to v4, that's what I did and it ran alot better

I'm actually running the dd03 root enabler right now root works everytime, but slight problems, hes gonna combine and fix the v5 and the root enabler and we should have it soon and fully functioning keyword hopefully.

global - I agree if the just handed over the source we would probably have a completely full functioning system with amazing battery life and speed lol

There's no difference i'll explain

v1 no root
v2 root, run very poorly bogs down overall use of phone
v3 no root, well random root works or doesn't
v4 no root, same works or doesn't

cl14 root enabler - of course root but was running kinda poorly
dd03 root enabler - same as cl14 just trimmed down and edited, cur ver, what i'm using with v4

According to joey when using root enabler itgive root to any of them so v1, v2, v3, and v4, of course since there's to pts more pressure on the cpu just like the v2 alone does, so he's making v5

v5 will be v5& root enabler together so and should make it so its not as demanding on the phone and keeps the phone running smoothly

Actually V5 is now out and highly recommended. I am leary to post links here but go over to SDX and find the thread titled: [How To] - Root Android 2.1 DD03 - v5
I have 2.1 and have downloaded V5, but I'm waiting for a serious dummy guide for how to implement root and use it for the various advantages. Can anyone post one of those?

The basics are all in the thread [How To] - Root Android 2.1 DD03 - v5. But here are the steps broken down:

- First make sure you have flashed the 2.1 ROM.

- Flash the Recovery 2.1.3 (get it here) using the Sprint Update Tool. Do this over what you have. To do this put the Recovery ROM in the (C:\Program Files\Samsung Electronics\SWUpgrade\Models\Binary) folder and move the CL14 file to a safe place, MAKE SURE IT IS NO LONGER IN THE BINARY FOLDER. Then run the updater as normal.

- Download the joeykrim-SDX-a2.1-root-v5.zip (get it here) and save it in the root folder of your SDCard.

- Reboot into recovery - Turn Phone off then hold down: vol down + talk + end until the Recovery UI appears.

- Select Apply Update .zip from Menu

- Select joeykrim-SDX-a2.1-root-v5.zip

- Apply and Reboot

You now have root!!

I can't post all of the advantages of having root, since they are endless. You can remove stock apps, run apps that require root etc etc. The question is like asking: "why would I want admin access to my computer?"
