Dorimanx kernel - Dummies Guide

power saving not working

I've never bothered with it so can't comment. However....

same with screen mode.
This is definitely not working here. I thought my display looked different after flashing v7.40 but assumed it was due to me zeroing-out STweak's screen adjustments 'til I saw your comment.

Hi there,

Today I installed 7.40 on my S2 after switching from Siyah 5.0.1 (and run the GS2KernalWipe prior to flashing) and found that whilst everything else is fine, whenever I connect to USB, Windows XP will not recognise my S2, but if I revert back to the Siyah 5.0.1 kernal then XP will instantly see the phone again. I've done the switch twice today but the same thing happens.

Out of interest would this be a possible issue with 7.40 or would I need to do anything else pre/post flashing 7.40 to get XP to recognise my phone?

Apologies if there is an answer out the forums but I've struggled to find any information via searches.

Strange but true!

Went to sleep last night with 35% battery on Dorimanx 7.40, using extreme_battery + BLN, and this morning my phone had switched itself off!

Never, ever, had this before. When I re-booted, my battery was showing 29%.

Nothing was running or set on the phone out of the normal.

UPDATE

In a fit of pique, I flashed PhilZ kernel onto my phone, no ROM change, and my Home button has ceased to function!

I am aware of this happening when changing ROM's but not kernels. Am restoring a previous PhilZ nandroid to counter this. :(

OK... my bad. I forgot to press the HOME button restore in STweaks.

I'm not alone with the shutdown problem it seems, see here.

If you're in that situation again mate, the quickest way is to flash jeboo, then immediately flash Dori/PhilZ back.

Put a copy of Jeboo on your card just in case.

I too experienced the random shut down once last night when on 7.40 (post GS2KernalWipe and with battery profile selected) whilst my battery still had over 30% charge left so I guess there is possibly an issue with this version of the kernal (aside from my own 'USB device not recognised' issue I mentioned)

Do me a favour guys to better debug, can you stick to stock profile and settings and see how it goes.

If the reboot continues then there is an issue not related to kernel. If it's fine then maybe there is a problem with both profiles that were selected.

Now if you can actually provide this feedback to Dorimanx maybe something can be done.

Edit : ironass provided feedback on thread  but still follow the advise as stated. :)

I would have given feedback to Dorimanx but as I've just joined XDA it's not allowing me to post in the related thread nor send PMs until I have posted more :(

Oh well, that's the noob deal I guess!

Similar problem here. I do find XDA to be quite elitist and as a result quite off putting. I understand why their policies are what they are but the whole set up feels too much like a clique.

To be honest I find these forums a lot easier to follow as the information is generally more concise and to the point.

whenever I connect to USB, Windows XP will not recognise my S2

After flashing the Dorimanx kernel, go into STweaks and on the Misc tab set USB Mass Storage Mode to "Force Mass Storage Mode". Reboot the handset and see if that solves the issue.

as you all know updating to the jelly bean rom will rename the SD card to SDCARD0...

Is this a Dorimanx kernel related problem.

Definitely not, as Dorimanx symlinks sdcard0 > sdcard.

Dorimanx kernel v7.41 for ICS-JB-MALI-CM10.1-JB-LEAK is up! :)

"Change Log:

*Voku made code change to Touch Screen Freq tweak, now more apps need CPU then more Freq added when touching the screen, but it's still limited to max 1Ghz and respond to Stweaks user limit.
*Alucard_24 Added Great new CPU code mod that now allow us to use freq steps by 50Mhz and not 100Mhz
so now we have 100,150,200,250, and so on till 1600Mhz!
it's can be set via Stweaks and any SMART cpu tune app.
but there is something that all need to know.
there are 4 freq that not 850,950,1050,1150 there are 852,952,1052,1152
all the rest are rounded or 100 or freq + 50
this should reduce CPU power usage and may save little more battery
*Fixed the Camera for all Custom CM10.1 JB 4.2.1
*Ported Wifi global code from JB Sammy to support main WIFI driver and apps that need that code.
*Alucard_24 also extended the voltage interface for all new cpu freqs and for all HIGH cpu freqs! be very careful with voltage tuning, you STUCK! do profiles reset via recovery! dont POST about it
any way all set to best.
*Alucard_24 added CPU battery save mode for SLEEP(SCREEN OFF) and for IDLE(screen ON)
*Fixed some typos in Stweaks descriptions.

Known BUGS:
Front camera FC after some picks taken... for now no idea what broken!
i will dig to find it!
WIFI HotSpot for CM10.1 ROMS still broken! but USB Tether works fine.
for all the rest WIFI Tether working!"

My Brief opinion on Dorimanx 7.41 so far.

Steps taken to install.
1 . Flash GS2KernelWipe 2.1
2. Flash kernel
3. Reboot recovery and fix permissions

My findings

Things you may have issues with but not me.

*sound crackling

Now kernel has more options to tweak as stated in change log and has worked for me see below for what I changed.

uhybu4am.jpg

As you can see I changed it to both AFTR and so far it's fine and no reoccurrence. But feel free to tweak it to how you see fit. :) Even if you get it let phone go into deep sleep for 3 seconds and it will go.

* Memory.

It's seems fine and snappy for me but try zram and see if that helps.

Some people have experienced some lagging but I can say I haven't on stock profile and settings why not change the schedulers. Phone feels fast and smooth for me. :)

*Stock video fc. No issue for me and wouldn't be bothered if it did since I use MX Player. But solution here for those that face it.

Sorry, The Red Blur! :(

The lure of Dorimanx 7.41, amended, was just too much for me to resist and I cannot oblige with your request for monitoring 7.40.

The good news is that I experienced no shutdown last night... an excellent Deep Sleep, (best so far) and so far everything is behaving itself. :D
