I know this has probably been posted numerous times but i'll post it again anyways.

I was playing around with some settings and found the animations setting about 2 nights ago shortly after i rooted my phone. I set it to only show some animations and it seemed alittle quicker. I then turned all animations off and wow that makes things seem alot faster.

I think loading the animations is one of the reasons the phone feels slower than it is at times.

Either way animations off = much faster feel and responsiveness.

I do check these forums very regularly and have never seen this posted.... I was like I cant imagine that turnign off the animations would really have any impact on the performance... I have gone from 1.5 to 2.1a then to 2.1b and its much buch better cant imagine that the phone has that much more to give...

WOW... I was wrong... I turned of animations and tried GMAIL, Email, Calendar, Texting and it was lighting fast... This has been the BEST advice and/or modification I have made...

I will monitor and see how it goes...

Thanks for the advice!

Yeah i was suprised at it too. I mean it never really dawned on me in the past that the animation was what made it feel so slow. But i'm guessing a secondary benefit is that it probably uses less memory when loading apps at the same time.

I've been using it this was for about 2 days and haven't seen any slow down so far, but then again 2 days isn't much to hang your hat on either.

I've not run into a situation where they were needed. I think that setting is just for the GUI and has nothing to do with the apps themselves. But i could be wrong. Either way i've found no ill effects so far, if someone does run into a problem make a post about it.

Agreed. I believe they are just for aesthetics. I can live without them for a faster machine.

I meant like you personally feel the need to have the animations...not like it would cause a problem (or why would you be able to set it in the first place:D)
