Hey guys I was just wondering what you might be going on with mine as well I used to be rooted but reset my phone and flash stock recovery so I'm back to stock. update goes through the whole procedure but when it reboots it says contact Samsung service center download fail. I noticed when I check device status it still says modified is that because of my flash count from odin that it says that or maybe because I am on Nova Launcher that it won't install correctly?? Help plzz:)

Check your about phone to see if you are on the old 2012 kernel. Mine said the same thing after I updated. Kernel was changed to Jan19 2013. I even somehow booted into stock recovery(since the update erased CWM) and after several reboots it reapplied the update, this time with no errors.

On the side note: After the update, I keep noticing Samsung S Voice keeps crashing. I do not use it but keep seeing the message ("S Voice stopped working"). Anyone else experiencing this?

Yes, and thank you so much for moving this thread. ROM Manager had previously said CWM was installed and nothing came up after that. Just reinstalled ROM Manager and the option to flash recovery for R530 came up again.

That was a bit of a scare. For future purposes, our recovery is the same as US Cellular, right???

EDIT: After OTA update, Rom Manager might still say you have CWM flashed, double check because you might not. For anyone who runs into this like I did. Please reflash CWM using ROM Manager after update. If you do not get an option to flash CWM, reinstall ROM Manager and try again.

If you get stuck in the Stock Recovery then reflash CWM using Oudin tool. I will link to guide here in a bit.

Hi guys,

After updating, re-flashing CMW fails because Rom Manager has been denied superuser permission, even after reinstalling it, will try using Odin later

Thanks

Ok I dunno whats up. Ive got stock recovery, I have stock rom and boot image and everything. I used supersu to unroot and I have no root acess and cant even use superuser. After doing that I uninstalled superuser and supersu and did a factory reset and cleared cache and what not. Still my about phone status says modified and I can not get the update to work. My kernel is still the 2012 kernel and nothing has changed. Everything goes through and then it goes to install and after 30% it fails and tells me so after it reboots. Im just worried that if this doesnt work then jellybean wont update when it comes through. Can any1 help??? Im truly stuck and im usually damn good at figuring this stuff out on my own. Any feedback would be awesome, thanks again guys.

So your sayin bcuz were habing issues with this its possible we cant get the jellybean update???

oh i promise you you cant. how updates work is they download the official zip that is filled with patches the updater script checks each file then begins to apply the patches, if it fails halfway through then you will be left with an updated x but not something else. so when the zip runs again it will check the files who were already updated and now they are gunna fail the checks.

so you will have to be stock and on this update to get the next update whether its jellybean or ics. its why i could care less about this update since i dont plan on being on stock ics i have no concern with egtting updates :)

the zip i would be making is just so people who dont want to flash roms and stay on stock would have teh updated stuff. if you flash any roms then you are wiping out everything this update did, so its like it never happened

now i dont have recovery flashable by cwm/twrp just odin tar. when automatic root stops working i dont want people being confused by trying to flash those in odin

Alright lol its just confusing bcuz im on stock everything and I just don't get what's wrong to the point of it not fully installing. Ive done everything I can and I want the jellybean update to see if games will run better. Ive overclocked on certain roms and nova 3 will run great but dead trigger is choppy. I wanted to see if the official jb update would help with all that. Just wanna to get my phone to be able to install updates properly :-(

I just noticed this update as well, and read the thread before even attempting it. Im not sure if this is needed by someone, but Ive attached the update.zip from the cache/fota folder. Im going to hold off on this update until someone can create a flashable zip to avoid the issues others are having. Thanks

PS: I extracted the zip and it definitely overwrites the recovery. It has the "install-recovery.sh" in it.
