[**BIG UPDATE 11/26**]Ultimate Battery List with Cases for Extended batteries

My first step after getting and S3 was to get the Hyperion Battery and I carried it in an Eddie Bauer pouch I got at Best Buy. My 18mo old managed to crack the screen (surprise!). So I decided I needed something more rugged. So I bought the Seidio back cover and the Seidio Active case for extended battery. It all fit together great, but was then too large for the Eddie Bauer pouch. I did not want the Seidio clip because it was expensive, but more importantly, I find that clip harnesses catch on steering wheels, table corners, etc. I finally found a pouch-style case that nicely fits the Galaxy S3 with extended battery and extended Active case. I can't post a direct link as a newbie here, but all you need do is go to CellularOutfitter and get the "Oversized Exquisite UniPro Horizontal Leather Carrying Case for Samsung Galaxy S3"

After a week or so of use, it has broken in to fit the phone and case nicely and the belt loops and clip hold it better than my old Eddie Bauer case. Magnetic clasp could be stronger, IMHO, but overall it's doing nicely

I think my hyperion 4200 battery just died... The phone will not turn on with the battery and it will not charge either. In fact I suspect the battery should be at 90 or 80 percent but when I plug it into the wall it just shows up as 0%. No matter how long I leave it to charge it still shows up as zero percent and the phone refuses to turn on.

Any ideas?

Guys the QCell TPU case does not fit the Anker 4400MH battery. I bought the case on the advice of this thread. The top and bottom fit but the sides do not at all. I researched this and many others have the same problem. They say the QCell case only fits the Qcell battery which has a thinner back door than other extended batteries.

Did you get this resolved? Again as suggested just use the stock battery to make sure it's not a phone issue. If it isn't, then try to return and get a replacement or refund.

Are you getting the charging led light after plugging in? Sometimes, the issue isn't a battery problem and instead might be something in the connection. A broken charge port or defective charger base or cable could be the culprit.

Probably need to hear more of what you've done to be able to help.

DONE! Sent PM w/measurements.

For those interested in the overall Front to Back thickness(Face/screen to battery cover): .625"

Same measurement taken @ the edge of the cutout for the camera lens/flash/speaker: .490"

Width of the MUGEN 4600 battery cover is actually less than the width of the phone, so, if nothing else, finding a holster to fit this shouldn't be a problem.

I've got a TPU EXTENDED BATTERY CASE on the way via AMAZON, I'll be back w/the results on the fit of this case w/the MUGEN 4600.

BTW, I didn't get a chance to actually measure the battery itself today,as I'm still conditioning the battery, will post overall dimensions of the MUGEN 4600 BATTERY tomorrow (10/21/2012).

So.. any update on getting the Seidio Case & Cover to fit over the Mugen 4600 battery?

Hi,

I have a QCell extended battery. I bought a Seidio extended battery back, and it fits with the battery perfectly. The reason I decided to go with the Seidio back was because the back that came with my QCell battery messes with the camera flash. When I take a flash picture, the image is dimmer along the sides, and brighter in the middle. It's like the deep holes that the flash and camera sit in interfere with the flash. The Seidio back is contoured so that there is a lot less case in the way of pictures. Unfortunately, there does not seem to be a lot of cases available for this particular battery back. I tried out the Active Extended case, but didn't like it. The rubber edges don't come up high enough to cover the glass along the edges of the case. I have a little bit of a gap between the edge of the screen and the bottom of the phone, and crap gets in there. So I want a case that covers it. There's no point in getting the surface case, because that covers even less of the phone.

Does anyone know of any cases that will fit the phone with the Seidio extended battery back? I can't find anything except the two Seidio cases.

Thanks

So here is what happens..... with the hyperion battery in, the phone does not turn on even if it is plugged into the wall. The screen just shows the battery charging at 0%. I can't do anything with it. I replaced it with the stock samsung battery and the phone works fine, just with crappy battery life. I waited a few days and tried the Hyperion Battery again.... Sam result, it doesn't turn on and doesn't show a charge even though I know it is nearly full. Any ideas??

I saw this post in the other thread as well. It really sounds like you've got a bad battery. I would exchange it before too much time goes by. If one battery works and another doesn't, this just sounds like a bad battery. Maybe try a new one or a different brand. I use the EZOPower myself and couldn't be happier.
As for the Mophie pack, some people like it, others don't. $99 bucks for basically an extra battery is a lot to me. Extended batteries add thickness to the phone. The Mophie pack adds thickness and height for an extra 2300mAh of juice. And if I'm not mistaken, it charges the stock battery when you need it, not always on like one extended battery. I would say try a new battery for sure, even if you can't exchange it, a new one would be far cheaper than $99 bucks!

So I cleaned the contacts on the Hyperion battery with an eraser (don't know if that was wise), and I put it back in my phone. Once again the phone would not turn on. I plugged the power cable into the phone and then turned it on, and it worked. The Hyperion battery is at 93% but it would not turn on without a jump from the power cable.

So is there an extended battery case with a kickstand that fits the majority of the aftermarket batteries?

Sedio works for many batteries. The issue will always come down to dimensions, but it seems to be generous enough for a few in the 4400-4600mah range. Though the kickstand isn't as durable feeling as I hoped, it works and will last through any abuse I put it through. Important to note though is that it faces outward when put in the belt clip. If you're doing a lot of physical activity that might cause you phone to fall from the case, I'd advise putting a little piece of tape so the clip doesn't come out. My clip has popped open after a spill or two.

Good luck.

For those who may still be interested, NewEgg still offers the following deal:

[NewEgg] Seidio Innocell Black 3500 mAh Extended Life Battery w/ NFC For Samsung Galaxy S3 BACY35SSGS3N-BK - $29.95 FS

I am getting about 15hrs with mine. This is a great deal if you are impressed with the Seidio cases/holsters (which I am) and works with other 3rd party batteries. Just a really nice setup.
