Hello I'm new to this whole rooted thing. I actually had my cousin root my phone for me because I'm pretty comp stupid and I have a mac. The big reason for the root is so that I could download beats audio and be able to change animations (which I can't make work?) if someone could please help me out with other positives of root, or should I just put my phone back to stock? Thanks for your time.

welcome to the forums!!!!!!

i moved you to the verizon note 2 root forum where folks here can help you better.

i do not have your phone but as far as why root? well it is the mere freedom that you can do whatever you want to your phone. do you have a recovery? if so you can flash custom roms. roms are like the os of the phone. many developers have added special tweaks and designs that might help improve performance and battery life.

i can't speak as to what is out there for your phone, since i do not have it. hopefully others here will be able to fill you in. in this forum please checkout the stickies at the top of this forum for more understanding of the root world.

If I update my phone with Verizon update will it brick my phone

Never accept an ota while you are rooted. Not sure if it will brick it, but it could unroot you. OTA's usually close any exploits used to gain root. and you might have to wait until there's another way to root the phone. Now I do not know much about your device so can't speak specifically and I could be wrong. But if you adhere to the practice of never accepting OTA's, you should be fine. All you need to do is just flash a custom rom that has it cooked in.

For what its worth I am using clean Rom, Beans Rom is highly talked about and I think has beats built in. This a great phone to have from what I can see, my last phone was a razr maxx and I missed the days of unlocked boot loaders and flashing anything I wanted like I did on my Thunderbolt!
Enjoy your grat phone and stay here!

I have never had a problem with this but you will usually lose root and it may even make it harder to re root it if you don't unroot before the OTA. You should definitely use OTA rootkeeper. With this app you can temporarily disable root and reenable after the OTA. I'm not really sure how it works, but it hasn't failed for me yet.

Rooting and unlocking the bootloader are 2 seperate things though. OTAs have been bricking phones with unlocked bootloaders. I wouldn't chance it, if you unlock the bootloader.
