Root [AT&T] how do i stop this from popping up?

I have samsung galaxy s 3 in red at&t. i keep getting a software update for jelly bean. i dont want it. my phone works flawless since the day i got it. i learned if your phones not broke dont try to fix it with updates. so i dont care to have the jelly bean update.i m satisfied with ics. i go application manager, force stop , clear data, but it still keeps popping back up after a very short time later. how do i stop this from popping up permanetly? it comes up on my samsung galaxy rugby pro as well. any help would be nice. thank you everyone.

Are you rooted by chance? Edit:I'm an idiot, this is the root forum :eek:

I'm not familiar with the samsung products, but there's generally a file you can delete or edit to stop it from checking.

I'll stop embarrassing myself and let someone else chime in

nope not rooted. i dont tweek any of my phones system.

if you're not rooted, then post in the general section.

as for not receiving the update notification, i read some time ago that you can modify a file so it won't look for an update. but that requires root.

I have no idea on how to help you on that right there, But this is for some people i've done that have a rooted phone that keep getting that. I had the same issue, didn't want the update at all, It kept on updating as long as i was on my wifi. I got tired of it and i said screw it, i'll let it update. It downloaded on my phone, restarted, and then started like it was gonna update and stopped. It was in the screen where you use the volume to go up and down and pick what you want. I picked exit/reboot which ever it was and my phone started back up and wasn't updated at all, and I've not gotten a update since. Sorry that I wasn't able to help ya there, But i know what ya was going through!

No way to stop it without rooting the phone. You should get the update though. Mine ran smoother after the update.

Just update to JB already, ICS is old news. JB is better in every way.
