Help Dropped Nexus 4, touch not responding

I dropped my Nexus 4 and cracked the front glass in the top right corner. The damage doesn't bother me much, it's only in the corner and I can hardly see the very fine crack running across the screen. But touch is not responding, so I can't unlock or use the phone. All I can do is turn it on/off using the power button on the side. Does anyone know if there's anything I can do to this phone myself to restore use? And whether replacing the glass will make it responsive to touch again, or if this is an issue with something else?

Thanks!

As others mentioned, talk to Google about it. You may have to pay a reasonable amount for a new or refurbished unit, but it will certainly be less than a new one.

Just curious ... did you have any kind of protection installed? Skins, case, bumper?

I have full XOskins and the Google bumper case installed, and dropped my phone on a downhill paved road with only some scuff marks on the bumper corners.

Yeah, Google referred me to LG and both said you're on your own with physical damage, quoting me a $125-$200 repair estimate until I could mail in the phone for an exact price. The crazy thing is, I had this phone set a few inches away from the edge of the table and it slid off by itself when I wasn't looking, with the vibration of the table I guess, onto a hard floor. I have never had a phone this slippery... I don't get why anyone would think this is a good design. I find it rather uncomfortable to use because of this, I recall it falling a lot in the first few days I got it when I would set it on anything less than a rough surface, and slippery in my hands. This thing is like an air hockey puck.

I didn'nt have a bumper and every time I checked the Google Play website, it was out of stock. Until 2 days after I cracked it, of course. I tried Best Buy and other local mobile stores and none of them had anything in stock. I remember reading reviews of the cases on amazon and they were all getting terrible reviews, like 2 or 3 stars, and I figured I would wait until a case was in stock at the Google Play store... guess not.

I have to say, I get that this is technically my responsibility but I'm not too happy with Google and this phone. Who manufactures a phone this slippery and then cannot provide a case for it? I don't think I would get another.

Mine slipped out of my pocket whilst I was getting out of the van and guess what...cracked screen, touch not working. LCD screen ok. Peeved off. Only had it since the beginning of December. Not having a good time with smartphones at present. Dropped my trusty DHD in November and cracked the screen on that. I managed to fix it myself but that aint going to happen with the N4! It was in a pouch but it managed to slip out of that too. Not a good day.

My condolences :(

If people drop their phones a lot, get a galaxy note. Haven't dropped this thing once. Probably coz it's so big lol
