Root UPDATED *** 8-12-12 ***Rooted OTA (2.11.605.19) Files

This is one of the things that worried me most about rooting for the first time last month. I am now being forced to update by my phone (Thunderbolt). I feel stuck. I have read and read and begging for help now. I can't use my phone b/c after 2-3 minutes it automatically shuts off and tries to update. I guess the root blocks the update by changing the box to an ( ! ) point inside a triangle. I tried going to boot screen to clear cache, but every time I press "recovery" it just moves me to the update screen again. So being very new and green at this can someone please help me get to the point where I can at least for now use my phone. Then I would love to flash the new rom for the update. I am taking advise from you on where and how to do the new update. I used the Revolutionary root. Thanks so much!!!

Even after renaming the OTACerts.zip file, the update still tried to download. It may not have tried to install, but the continual downloading was annoying. A little googling suggested freezing the Updater program (also Upgrade Setup, but I don't know if that has any effect). I use System Tuner to freeze because you don't need a premium version like TiBu. No more downloading...

The update tried to run yesterday. Thought I had it solved, then found this running still:

"com.smithmicro.DM is an Android process used by the Smith Micro Firmware Update Management Object (FUMO). This updates the firmware on your device when updates are made available."

So, I've frozen this, and we'll see if the update tries to run again. I'll just keep freezing til the phone stops working.

Also freeze MCC_OTA.

Yeah...I tried that...

It sat there on the "working" screen saying that it was freezing it for an hour and then at some point my phone rebooted. Now when I go into Tibu, I can't change anything - it says "Waring - System configuration. Your system settings may cause problems. To correct this, go to your phone's Settings, then in "Applications" then in "Development" and tick the "USB debugging" checkbox."

EDIT: Oops - meant to quote the post with "com.smithmicro.DM" in it. Rebooted phone again and was able to get back in. It's frozen, but the phone itself is running sluggish.
