I love this phone! It's not annoyingly big in the pocket which is what I was most worried about.

This is my fist samsung smartphone....Can I get some tips??
Also, I kept reading of how great the batter life is, but so far (and this is very very early), I'm not too impressed. Phone is been on for one hour I have barely used it and its at 95% already. I was reading how people had their batter last 18 hours with usage! I need to know how??????

For the battery I would use the phone for a day or two and see what kind of battery life you are getting.

Use your phone until the battery dies on its own. Then fully recharge. Some things to do to kill your battery would be to navigate through the settings menu and see what can/can't be disabled. In the Applications Manager section, you'll want to check and see if any stock/bloatware apps are running in the background. If so, kill them and see if there's a setting to not have then run all the time. Also check your notifications settings so you won't be bombarded with notifications for every single app.

I can get around 18-20 hours on mine even with a lot of the features enabled so it's doable. You just have to find a nice balance between everything and you should be fine.

Hi, and welcome to the forums! You will see the worst battery life of any smartphone on the first day you use it, because we all tend to turn it on just to look at it for the first day or so.

95% after an hour of constant use is not bad: That would mean you'd hit 0% in about 20 hours.

Don't worry about the battery life on this phone: just set it up with your accounts and enjoy it. I'm having great results with this phone, no special battery saving settings or special apps either.

Do NOT install a Task Killer on it, just in case you see those out there in your "smartphone newbie" investigations. They're not needed, and can add unnecessary complications to your experience.

Congratulations on purchasing a fine piece of equipment, N2 was my first Samsung phone also and I could not be happier with it relative to all other phones currently on the market.

I needed to run my battery down last week and with my normal use, GPS On and WiFi on after 3 days and 6 hours it was down to 9%! Truly amazing!!!

My first Samsung phone too and so far I am very happy! By far the most stable Android phone I've ever had!! The first few days my Note II battery was draining faster than expected. Now, after normal use it is fantastic! My record on 1 charge is 46 hours and my GPS is always on, I use live wallpaper, motion settings are on, and my weather updates every hour.

so this is crazy! I've had my phone on since 7:30 and im still at 38% battery life. I've been using it a lot (being that its the first day!!!!) and still this much battery life????? I'm in heaven!

Just wait until you get down to 15%. You can put power save mode on, and if you're fairly conservative with the use (until you get to a charger or replace with an extra battery), you can go at least another 2 hours (assuming you're in a decent coverage area). That's something that my Photon and Evo could never accomplish. 15% was always a death warning for me, since both of those phones wouldn't last very long on 15% remaining.

And if you want apps, assuming your username is connected to the team showing in my avatar, this is the app to have for sure:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...1bGwsMSwxLDMsImNvbS50d2NzcG9ydHMuYW5kcm9pZCJd

Only drawback with that is you can only access the live games, if you're a time warner or directv customer.

Yes im a huggggeee lakers fan. I did recently read about accessing games online buy I didnt know theres an app! This is great. Thanks

Watched the entire Nets game, while my Note 2 was on the extra battery charger/stand, and also answered work emails. It's a HD feed. And on top of that, looked amazing on the Note 2!

When I select app only options are force stop and uninstall updates. If I unistall updates it doesnt do anything.

I'm not sure if you actually need (or want) clarification but just in case it helps, then to see the 'disable' option start by selecting Menu / Application manager. At that point you will see 2 tabs - DOWNLOADED and RUNNING. Slide the screen to the left to reveal the ALL tab. If you select one of the pre-installed apps you may or may not get an option to disable.

You can see what some of us have disabled at

http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-note-2/682605-what-safe-disable.html

Note that when an app is disabled it is moved to the bottom of the list. It is convenient to have them in one group but one does have to scroll right down to re-enable an app.
