Help Pics as videos?

Nothing you can do about it. It's programmed that way with the default messaging app to display as a slideshow. There are other apps you can try that may offer more flexibility if that's very annoying for you. I don't use MMS that much and I haven't tried any other apps, so I can't really comment any further.

Maybe someone else can suggest something.

If it is an MMS from an iphone, that's some sort of incompatibility with ios that happens with all droids.
(Sorry, but I forget the actual details of why it happens :( )

If it's an email, what is the file type of the picture?

It is an MMS from an iPhone. Bummer...almost all of my friends have iPhones. I did find, however, that if the sender does not include any text with the picture, it will come through just fine (as a picture on my end). It only has a problem if text is written with the photo. So weird.

Thank you for the help. Maybe they will fix it in the future...

No it's not. I get the same pics in text messages sent to me from all sorts of mobile devices, has nothing to do with the iPhone specifically. Just minutes ago a friend with a Moto flip phone sent me a pic and my Note 2 displayed the pic as if it was a movie.

It is not iPhone, it is ANY MMS with more than just 1 picture. If you attach 2 pics in the same message you get slideshow. If you have 1 pic AND some words to go with it, you get slideshow. The only way to avoid slideshow in the stock message app on the Note II is to just send/receive 1 picture at a time.

Go SMS Pro did not spam me much. I get about 1 "theme" thing notification about once every 2 or 3 weeks. I did kept an old version I downloaded last year and never updated it. I don't believe in updating "free" app as usually they just put in more ADs or take away features.

They were spamming their spring theme. And when I tried to reply STOP to it, it wanted me to sign up for something to reply. But then it came through it seems in another format that allowed the reply, so I replied the standard spam stopper STOP, and nothing since then about that theme. I've only had the app a few days myself.

I almost deleted the GoSms because of the constant spam of the stupid winter theme. I blocked it and still was notified every 20 minutes. I was probably sent around 15 notifications.
