Root [ROM] Official Evervolv | 3.2.0a1 [AOSP 4.2.1]

As one of the Sprint users who is still in the middle of a two year contract on this phone, I am extremely grateful for your work - and even more so for the sources you're sharing. This is the proper way to guarantee that a device receives continued support from the community going forward, and for that you and the Evervolv team should be commended.

So far my phone is working exactly as promised with the latest alpha build. I'll update if I encounter any unreported bugs, and will continue to monitor and load the most current versions to provide the most helpful feedback possible.

Hi! Had to join to comment on this awesome rom. So far here are some issues I faced on boostmobile:

1. No 4G
2. Phone app crashes
3. Camera and gallery crashes
4. No front facing camera

TBH I have nothing to complain I am just happy that this is happening :D

Everything else works great and its really smooth!! Thanks a lot to the dev for taking the time to make this for the Design.

Ok - so after a few days of use here's what I've noticed:

GPS does not work. Even after using "GPS Status and Toolbox" (from the play store) which has fixed GPS on any android ROM or device I've ever had.

Phone Dialer quits often.

Launcher quits occasionally.

Camera is a bit wonky. Settings only go up to 3MP, I thought we had a 5MP camera in this device? It seems to take pictures ok, but sometimes the shutter button is not there, although it still takes the picture if you push where it should be. Front camera options aren't there at all? Didn't try the video camera.

I haven't actually tried MMS, but I notice that some of the APN settings for US Cellular are different than it says in the post about it here. Also there is no radio button next to the US Cellular APN so I can not choose it.

Battery life is decent I'd say. It's hard to tell in the first few days since I'm messing with the phone more than normal. Would love to see some more governors added to the kernel to help with this. Strange to see "usespace" among the three options here. Would love to see "smartassV2". "OnDemand" is always a battery hog.

Facebook will not sync contacts through the contacts page accounts menu. Coming from sense on my last bunch of phones this is problematic because lots of my phone numbers and most of my contact pictures came from there.

Overall it's pretty smooth and I would like to thank everyone who is working on it. My knowledge of android is limited, but growing. Let me know if there's something I can do to help.

If the device specific updates aren't daily, should we just wait until you notify us of our fixes instead of downloading new ones everyday? Or will all updates improve performance?

If you look at the corresponding changelog and it has changes that do not include the codename of a device, then it will affect the ROM itself.

First of all I want to thank the developers for spending much of their time on this, I really appreciate it.

Noob question though, and I would appreciate any help, would this ROM run with 2Fast V5 kernel? If not, which one should I use? I went to the link source and downloaded it on a ZIP but it failed (using CWM 5, 2Fasts one as well)

The only supported kernel is the included one. I advise against flashing an ics sense kernel to an aosp jb rom. It could screw things up even more.

I've used this ROM and updated daily. Have only found two bugs so far (besides no GPS) which weren't mentioned in the original post:

- At max volume there is severe distortion when the phone rings/notifies. Appears that the volume levels need tweaking.

- Call echo is being reported by folks on the other end of the line.

I'm kinda new to this, but how do we flash the Kernel source? I've downloaded the kernel tree in a zip from Github, but I can't get it to install? Is there is middle step I'm missing?

You don't flag the kernel source. You have to take the source and compile it, then place it in an update.zip. There is no sense in doing that unless you're making your own kernel. Just stick with the kernel included in the rom. Compiling it from source won't make any difference, even if you can compile it successfully.

Gotcha. I will do that. Thanks! :D
