Brand new N4 and newbie battery question

I just got my N4 four days ago. It's my first smartphone. Two nights ago I didn't charge it when I went to bed. I'm pretty sure it was at least 75% charged. Next morning, completely drained. So I installed Juice Defender and used the basic preset. Last night the battery was 95%+ charged. This morning, again, completely drained. I thought JD turned off all the battery sucking things.
#1 - Is this normal battery behavior? or Will this improve in the next couple of weeks as the battery gets broken in?
#2 - Is there a danger in using a charger other than the one that came with the phone? I've got one of the fast chargers for a Kindle Fire HD (which was sold to get the N4)

Uninstall Juice Defender. It's crap. Look in Settings > Battery to see what's sucking power and change your phone setup accordingly. If the drain is due to a poor signal and the phone keeps trying to get a lock, if you have T-Mobile you can probably get a free home signal booster.

1. It is not normal battery behavior.
2. Probably not, but why risk it?

When you get a new phone, you're supposed to charge to 100% and then use it until it drains completely to 0%, yeah?

Charge fully, then let drain low, maybe to 10-15%. Do that 2-3 times to calibrate everything. Avoid draining the battery completely if possible because it will shorten battery life.

This is not something you have to do with modern lithium ion batteries

It's not for the battery, it's (in theory) to allow the battery meter software to calibrate.

never let your battery go to 0% if you can help it.

Re the OP - discharging completely overnight is not normal, however it may be possible if you've done nothing to conserve battery. This has been discussed a lot on here.

I always turn off location services and Sync - don't see the point of them. I also drop the Power Widget on a home screen. This lets you turn the WiFi, GPS and Bluetooth on only when you're using them. It also lets you control Sync and screen brightness (I usually keep that one Auto).

With those settings, I get a full day out of my battery with medium usage, maybe 36-40 hours with low usage over the w/end.

Overnight with background sync on, mobile data on, location and GPS on I get around 10% drain. If I switch to airplane mode I get around 5% drain. This has been the norm for me with my N4 and SGS2.
If you are seeing 75-95% drain overnight then something is wrong.

As Crashdamage said check your battery usage, if there is nothing obvious in there then do a factory reset, dont install any apps and see if you still get the big drain. If you do, its the phone, if you don't its down to an app.
