Help Samsung InstinctQ or HTC Hero?

I had the same dilemma when trying to decide between getting the Hero, or waiting on the Instinct Q.

Ive opted for a less than practical way to resolve it. I plan on getting the Hero on launch day. When the Q comes out, I'll go back to the store and take a good long look at it, as I really wanted a full qwerty keyboard. So depending on how spec, look, feel and how responsive it is, I may swap phones at that point. This way, if I decide against the Q, I still have my Hero and didnt delay on getting an android device.

you know what, that's a very good idea. I was all about the Hero, til the new design was shown, now i'm starting to look at other options including the InstinctQ and even verizon's motorola option [current verizon user w/ a contract thats up]. If i'm going to have a phone that looks like every other, I should atleast get a keyboard, just my opinion on the matter.

when does teh Q come out?

if its within 30 days, that would work - otherwise, transitioning to the Q could be... "pricey"

*IF* you believe the rumors, and so far they have been on the money for Sprint. the Q will show up Nov 11th, exactly 31 days after the Hero. Convenient eh?

I did however talk to a rep, and she said I was eligible for a 75 dollar contract fulfillment rebate? I think she mighta been on crack, but she said I could use that on the Hero, and it wouldnt effect my 150 upgrade, since Im eligible for that as well, if I wanted to switch to the Q later. I will be looking at this more closely as the Hero launch draws near.

I realize that it wont work that way for everyone. Im not even sure it'll work that way for me. Ive told my GF if I get the Q, she can have my Hero.

I'm definitely leaning towards the InstinctQ, though that is without knowing anything about the phone's internal hardware. I like that it's the more pure Google experience and has the hard keyboard, though I doubt Sense is a bad way to go and everyone says you get used to the software keyboard quickly. I'm hoping to be able to hold out so that I can go to the store and actually take a look at both phones before making my decision.

You're a better man than I am. I dont have that kind of patience. I almost wish I did, cause I would be able to save some cash if I end up liking the Q more. A Nov launch of the Q (if thats even accurate) is just too long to wait.

Well based on the Pics I think the Screen and the Samsung trend I have been seeing with smartphones and their camera. I think the screen will be AMOLED which is what I want! Notice how uniform the lighting is on the screen? With that technology, each pixel produces its own light so images look great at any angle. Unless these screenshots are photoshopped Id bet $100 that the screen will not be LCD. Just hope its capacitive and I'm sold!

Waiting to see what the InstinctQ Specs are.

I wanna see if the Hardware internals are better than the Hero and if they load 1.6 Donut instead of the 1.5

Also kinda looking to hear if Sprint will release a new Blackberry like Tour but with WiFi and Trackpad in the near future. My wife's Tour is quite nice.

If the Q has no better hardware inside I will probably go Hero though and hope for a O.S. upgrade soon after release

I just got back from the sprint productivity now confrence in Phoenix. After playing with both phones...The hero is awesome and so is the Samsung InstinctQ, It is indeed an amoled screen, and it is capacitive.

Heres the only thing I could take into accoung. HTC is known for producing some of the most awesome phones in the market place. You can count on HTC to support the phone after launch.

Samsung however at least in the consumer space, releases a phone and thats pretty much it. Will we actually see updates from samsung....hard to tell.

The size between the hero and the sammy are close. They are about the same thickness but the sammy is a little bit bigger and are just as about as snappy. The heros I played with did not have the new firmware however so rotatation was slow. The sammy was instant once it was flipped i wish though it would rotate just by turning it if i didnt want to actually use the keyboard (theres prolly an app for it like on the winmo phones), This is useful for gps and mapping applications where the keyboard might not be necessary.

I didnt pick up the spec sheet while i was there but if I can get ahold of them ill let you know

Man...I love that screen. Hard to say

As far as I can tell it was donut. I only got to play with it in between sessions.
I'm not sure what the standard android ui looks like (this will be my first I'm a winmo user) but it looked like pictures of android I have seen. It didn't have anything like sense ui on it.

I called my contact. she's not sure if he can get the specs but she's trying.

wow it would be great if ya can get ahold of the spec sheet i wish there was a release date for this phone ...i honestly think that nov 11th makes more sense then oct 11...seeing as the hero has been officially announced it would seem that if they were going to release the phone in a few weeks they would have already announced it

Working on it. That is true, xda could get these things hoppin. I don't know I'm so torn.

Samsung has a bad habit if doing dumb things, from poor address book memory poor text memory among other things. Maybe they built this a little bit better.

All they have to do is build this phone like the Galaxy and it will sell itself. Memory wont even be an issue if they do.
