Boost only said they were going to throttle 4g not 3g... After 2.5gb they throttle you down to 3g. Unless you're in 4g area probably doesn't apply to you.

This was my understanding based on the way the Boost rep explained it to me when I switched to a 4G plan last Oct/Nov - which I was OK with.

Then we all got that text and everything changed :(

So - could it be they just sent a mass text to scare everyone into using less data in fear of some illusive throttle that doesn't exist haha?

Yeah, either way my data has not been throttled at all. That was my understanding. On Boost's website it says it throttles down to 256kbps after 2.5gb. I've been long time boost customer, and I can't say I use that much data to where I would need to worry about throttling. (on average I use about 1gb) My friend on the other hand has verizon goes to 7-13gb a month on the unlimited plan (only internet).

Data Usage

Data Usage: 3992.2236 MB
Data Threshold: 2560.0 MB
Throttled: Yes

I am throttled !!

I received the texts at 85% usage and at 2.5gb.
Currently almost at 4gb. My service will reset in a week.

When did the boost message say it would start? I don't have the text. I think it was toware the end of January, and as such I would expect it to take affect on your cycle date after that texts start date. I have also just read some of the fine print on the boost site which states:

Throughput Speeds: Boost Mobile reserves the right, without notice, to limit throughput speeds when monthly data usage exceeds 2.5 GB. When a Mobile Hotspot plan is purchased, the data usage limit is combination of phone and Mobile Hotspot usage. Connectivity dependent upon compatibility and speeds may vary. Customers will continue to have data access but maximum speeds may be limited to 3G speeds of 256Kbps or below for the remainder of the monthly plan cycle.

Did anyone figure out a way to stop 4g data throttle? I was just throttled after going way way over. Why just now? I followed the remove throttle instructions when I bought the s2. I found a folder under data/system/usagestats that has been keeping track of data sessions. Can boost be downloading this info? It wasn't until I rebooted my phone that I got both messages about 85% and than throttle on a reboot.

I know a few people personally that have been throttled. They both still use the Zte warp. If you get throttled you will get a text saying you've exceeded 2500 mb of data. Your data speeds will now be throttled until your next pay period....

That isn't exactly what it said but pretty close. I kinda think us being on these sprint ROMs is Letting us get by with out getting throttled. But i have no proof of that

At 3 gigs so far and new month doesn't start until the 19th. No sign of throttling yet.....Shh......lol!

I am thinking we should all email boost customer service and complain about this. No telling if it will make any difference, but in my experience it does pay off to let companies know where you're dissatisfied.

If x# of people just up and leave, as opposed to telling them WHY they are leaving (or considering leaving) they may rethink their strategy.

I'm going to shoot off an email (always keep it professional and courteous of course) letting them know that this is not what I signed up for. A few months ago I was a Boost evangelist, now not so much based on the throttle.
