Is it possible to use USB on the go at the same time while using MHL to HDMI? I ordered both cables from Amazon for a total of less than $10, but I just started to think that I can't use both at one time. I'm on Mobster Rom HD with the Buttered Toast Kernel.

No. Those features use the micro USB port in different modes.

I see. At least I won't mind not using the USB on the go cable since it was less than $2 lol
You can use it with an active USB hub that can provide the power required by your peripherals but that's not a very portable solution. An OTG adapter like this one with a USB connector for the A/C charger is better when on the move.

I think the cables I bought will work then. The HDMI one supports charging. As for portability, I think I'll just use it with a wireless keyboard and mouse (I'll get a USB hub to use both of them)
If they are wireless you should be able to plug the USB receiver into the female port on the adapter and use both at the same time, but that receiver may need to get power from the host (phone) as well.

ramjet I have the same exact cable and downloaded the stickmount app, but still it does not work. My ROM is evervolv nightly, do I need to change the kernel ? if so which one you recommend?

Evervolv's kernel doesn't support OTG and and I don't know of any that do on 4.2.x ROM's. I've been testing for the developer of the Mac kernel and hopefully that will support OTG on 4.2.x sometime soon.

The only kernels I have used successfully for OTG are Anthrax and Buttered Toast and only with Sense ROM's and AOSP based ROM's at 4.1.x and lower. It was mentioned in the BT thread on XDA that the developer wants to get it fully working with 4.2.x ROM's but hasn't yet.
