[Verizon] [rom]jbsourcery v5.4-lte[06/07/13] jb4.2.2 The Final Call

no, but for some reason after a few days i got freezing and rebooting. worked great until then, snappy.

on tiny kernel 3.0 right now

Was noticing some bad lag today with lean 6.0, went to tiny 3.0 better but still laggy.

Moved back to my previous kernel lean 5.8.2 and it is once again moving nicely. Will be staying on this kernel for a while.

Just wanted to say that Popcorn kernel is no longer on my phone. Anyone else have awful battery life and sluggish performance with it?

Performance was fine, but battery was low. At the end of the day with light use, I usually sit around 65%, I was down to 50.

Switched to Trinity/morific kernel, which my old phone liked. Hoping that's also true for the replacement.

Popcorn kernel is working fine for me but I didn't really see any difference between it and the stock JB Sourcery kernel. I just wanted to try it out. But with that being said, I do experience occasional lag with any kernel. I think it is because I ask Tasker to do so much though. One question I've always had is it would seem to me that if there is lag, the processor is struggling to perform the task. But I've noticed that my CPU is rarely at it's highest frequencies. Mine is set at 350 min and 1200 max, but it's only been at 1060 0% of the time and 1200 only 1% of the time. It seems to me that it should be in those states more often.

Had the same lag problems. My solution was keep the sourcery kernel (figured the devs designed it specifically for this ROM) and set it for 7k min & screen off and 14k max. No lag and negligible hit on the battery vs performance. These phones eats batteries anyway.
Was just my solution, I'm not too particular on battery life, I pack extra ones jic.

Cool.

First problem is with wifi tether button in the pulldown. It always says off and stays grey whether the tether has been activated or not. The button functions yet doesn't reflect the state of the tether. The main notification does display an icon when tethering.

Second, I'm having a lot of glitching playing MP3s using PlayerPro and PowerAmp (both paid versions). It got so bad today that I stopped using my phone for music playback and went to my desktop PC. That option is not always available to me. In PlayerPro I messed with priority settings thinking the player may have been starved for CPU cycles but I could not affect the glitches one way or another. When I was on Xenon (an old version) this never occurred. Both players I tried are up to date. As a music nerd, this is a big deal to me.

Third (and I did submit a bug report for it) is the sporadic yet monotonously predictable changing of my default ringtone and notification sounds. I have MP3s for both and some time after setting them (I've never figured out the exact frequency) they will revert to "unknown" and the "Helium" alarm (should be a notification sound, not the alarm version), respectively. This occurs often enough that I created a Tasker profile to set them to my desired MP3s hourly. Hourly may be overkill, I just guessed at how long I could live with the wrong sounds. I initially misdiagnosed this as GTalk playing the wrong sound.

Fourth is the lockscreen. I installed DashClock with hopes of having weather displayed on my lockscreen but when powering on my screen, the weather portion is overwritten by charge percentage if charging or nothing if not. Swiping between lockscreens and returning to DashClock displays the weather correctly. This occurs with the Sourcery weather lockscreen doohickey as well. I tested DashClock on my stock Nexus 7 and this defect did not occur. Maybe I misconfigured something?

Fifth, my account picture on the notification pulldown is just the blue default smiley face. On my Nexus 7 (and when I ran Xenon) the picture was the one I set on my account. I know it takes a bit for that one to get set but 2 weeks later is longer than I remember it ever taking. Tapping the picture brings up a larger, monochrome version of the default smiley face. It's like my account picture has never been downloaded from Google.

That's all I have for now. There may be others I've forgotten and I'll make another post if they come to me.

Thanks for listening!

which version did you install? clean install or dirty? gapps? restore aynthing with Tibu?

1. Will have to look into this one.. Assuming all roms using these toggles have this issue as well.

2. you mentioned this worked on an old version of Xenon... assuming that wasnt JB or wasnt 4.2.2 my thoughts is the items arent updated for this latest version of JB as it is not yet out for the Verizon nexus.

3. can you get a logcat of what is happening when you notice the changing of the tones. I have never seen this on the 2-300 versions I have installed over the last year.

4. This is a widget. it needs time to update the weather. The N7 and the nexus have different layouts so its not an apples to apples comparison.

5. User functionality isnt designed for the GN... we have added users, tricking the system.. you can add your own picture in the user section of the settings.

I only have a few minutes but I can say I followed Chief's guide to the letter. Version 4.5, clean install, 12-12 non - inverted gapps, restored only a few apps with Ti but no system data, no Google apps.

I'll try and get a log.

yes it does

awesome! sounds like me goes a flashin!

that is one of the major things keeping me off of 4.2 roms, I just hate that white flash if I wake up at night to check the time...

you probably don't feel like dropping any hints as to what system apks/jars/etc or what files in AOSP source control that animation? I found some stuff that seemed relevant in SystemUI.apk but am not exactly sure. I'm just a noob, but am toying with this stuff...

RichSz,
For you alarm/notification changing issue. Are using a app to "choose" the alarms?

I had a issue with a app last year that would let you download MP3's then when you went to choose a alarm(or any sound) it would pop up and let me choose from what I had downloaded.

It had a nasty habit of doing exactly what you describe. Losing its settings and playing the default or even sometimes nothing at all.

No, I have no app choosing any of my sounds (except for the Tasker workaround I mentioned). I grabbed an MP3 of the Game of Thrones theme from the Internet, then edited it so it loops nicely. Then I got the classic "Nexus" notification and via my PC, copied both to their proper locations; Ringtones/ and Notifications/, respectively. Then I went into Settings/Sounds and set the defaults manually.

To be honest, I don't use my phone for alarms, just not my use case.

I do appreciate the thought. Sometimes it's thinking like that which gets people out of their jams. Thanks!!

Does it matter that some files in the flashable rom zip are not zipaligned?

56546831 system/etc/bash/bash_logout (BAD - 3)
56710957 system/etc/init_trigger.enabled (BAD - 1)
80874581 system/lib/egl/egl.cfg (BAD - 1)
111953415 system/media/bootanimation.zip (BAD - 3)
120018057 system/usr/share/zoneinfo/zoneinfo.version (BAD - 1)

Does zipaligning only really matter for apk's?
