Help Default Camera - Is Mine Faulty?

I just upgraded to the Motorola RAZR HD (in Canada, via Rogers).
I'm completely happy with it, however I've noticed that the camera has started taking blurry pics no matter what settings I have it on.
I'm trying to determine if it's faulty or if I'm missing something.
I've cleared the lens and tried changing the settings.
I've noticed that if you look at the display while ponting the camera, it constantly focuses in and out repeatedly, never finallying focusing in and staying focused.
....is this normal?

Just discovered this thread;
http://androidforums.com/motorola-d...cks-anyone-having-luck-better-camera-app.html
Still....i'll accept any new advice....

I posted in that thread. Be sure to tap the screen on the area you want the camera to focus on before activating the shutter. I've taken to assigning the volume button as the shutter, pressing and holding it down, tapping on the screen on the area I want it to focus, then with both hands holding the camera, releasing the volume rocker. I feel I get less camera jiggle this way rather than tapping the on screen's shutter icon.

This camera could certainly use image stabilization. Perhaps that is coming in Jelly Bean II. The reports say the camera app has been overhauled. We'll see. I know image stabilization is built into the camera because other camera apps utilize it.

I've noticed that when shooting in HDR mode I get way more consistent shots (non-blur) I wonder if the image stabilization is active in HDR mode?

Yeah, unfortunately, the camera doesn't seem to be very good on the RHD. I find that taking the same picture multiple times will produce different results. Some dark, some blurry, some grainy, some perfect. The fact that it CAN take good pictures could mean that a firmware update can enhance the functionality of this thing. One thing that seems to be constant is that pictures are always grainy in low light conditions. The rest of the phone is awesome, though.

Wow, you're right. I just tried that out. You can definitely hold the phone more steady when using the volume rocker as the shutter. I didn't even think of that. Thanks.

It does seem as though you have to hold this thing pretty steady when taking pictures.
