Root [MetroPCS/CDMA] which root kit to use for flashed phone?

as title says im trying to figure out which root kit should i use since i have a sprint gs3 flashed over to metro. i know its technically a sprint branded phone

and probably needs sprint roms and root, but then i was like its on metros network so shouldnt i use metros roms and root kit? as you can see im at a bit of a stalemate and cannot figure this out. Can anyone give me some insight at all?

as far as roms go you can use ours, recovery too. youll need to use sprint kernels and radios. all in all it would be easier for you to just use sprint roms and everything and just flash some of teh metropcs sgs3 stuff they have on the sprint sgs3 forum on xda.

since our hardware is different you cant really use our stuff :/

thank you guys very much for the feedback this is all i needed to know. so just that were clear. since i do have a sprint GS3 flashed to metro i should still root my phone using sprints root kit, correct?

seriously i do appreciate the time you guys took to answer my question

correct you want to follow everything sprint. once you get setup on the sprint side with root/rom then http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1875760 :)

honestly when i was looking on ebay for a sgs3 i just bid on any and all s3 that looked like they were in good condition till i won. i got mine for $300. thats the only reason why i have a sprint sgs3.

But now i think i regret it as im having trouble with the usb storage. no matter how much times it downloads new drivers it doesnt recognize my phone and my phone says nothing about opening as a mass usb storage.

This is a known problem with the S3, the best way to fix that is reboot the computer and than connect the phone. But if you have android commandor and usb debbugging on and have root, it will see your phone and you can transfer/edit stuff on the phone using that program.

thank you for this info. well i finally got my phone rooted at 2:21am took me a VERY long time to do this. (and its not like i havent rooted phones before) but sheesh that was frustrating.

edit: now i have a new problem. like a anxious nub thats barely awake i bricked my phone:dong: i tried installing liquid smooth rom(not sure if i missed a few steps before installing roms) but now its stuck on a bootloop. i did make a backup in rom manager but when i boot into recovery it wont let me restore it  and when i got my phone flashed, the guy told me not to factory reset it. so i cant wipe/factory reset. ugh! my head hurts.

edit 2: ok i got back to stock rom but now im having alot of force closed issues. one especially is the android phone. i know i made a back up in rom manager and i found it. but now im getting the mds mismatch crap and on top of that instead of being on 4.1.1 im on 4.0.4 soo much to do.

but i can make calls (so it seems) i can text well atleast text myself and i get email notifications but sometimes it crashes.

Oh snaps just notice, he can swap out the kernel before flashing, but best thing to do is go to xda and get one of sprints roms and flash it to your device.

i dont know if it makes a difference but i did go to the xda forums and im downloading the official jellybean 4.1.1 since thats what i had before all this happened?

or do i need an actual rom because when i downloaded liquidsmooth it caused me to bootloop which caused me to the problems i have now.

and also do i need to install something else before i install a rom?

Which liquid rom did you flash, was it d2mtr? If it was a metro rom than thats why it boot loop on you, but the one you downloading now should work for you and if you need the data to work on metro. I have the apn.xml that you will need if it doesn't work after you flash the rom.

you know what it was that. but i swear i thought i was in the sprint section when i saw it. wow i just screwed myself badly with this one.

and what will the apn file do exactly. thank you for your support :D

apn fix for metro will get your data working. Look above your post. :)

The apn.xml goes into /system/ect/ folder than reboot the phone.

edit: somehow i have no system folder. do i create one or is it hidden somewhere?

edit 2: nevermind i found it. but now it freaking fails. wow

edit 3: ok i got the apn file in the system]etc folder and restarted it. now im waiting for jellybean to finish up on dropbox since my pc cant read my phone. tried everything and it just wont pick it up
