Any Motion users try Qualcomm's Snapdragon battery saver app?

The app reminds me of juice defender. If you already shut off WiFi/data when you don't need it, then your already doing the best battery savings. I monitor my cpu usage daily and don't need this.

I suggest this for someone that always leaves WiFi and data on with tons of random apps. (Example: my wife lol)

Sum it up......
Non root, always leaving WiFi/data on= use it.
Root, experienced user that monitors usage = pass on it.

Low option juice defender

(On my phone. Edit later if I need too)

hmmm did not think about the data thing, i was wondering why my 4g was slow and took forever to catch. I had to reset the network a few times. maybe because of the app maybe not. But yeah when i looked at what its doing doesnt seem like anything great it just shuts down the refresh for certain apps like facebook, hotmail, gmail and what not which i can do myself. I dont really like how my email isnt refreshed because of this app. I have to do it manually and have like 20 emails when i do.

Still, from reviews, people tend to change their opinion of the app after a few days. Just finishing the learning period here, so I'm game. I'll give it a good amount of days to see what the 'average' amount of power saved is (or wasted, as the case may be).

I can't speak for every Motion owner, but my battery usage isn't exactly the same every single day. In point of fact, it widely varies. I also - - consciously or subconsciously - - adapt my use in any given day based upon how much power I have left as the day goes on. If I have a relatively high amount of power left at 5am, I might just listen to a couple more hours of podcasts or music, whereas I might NOT if I'm running lower than expected and don't want to have to plug in. Thus, any "testing" I might do has to take that purposeful variance into consideration.

(sigh) This stuff is all so subjective. That's why a 'test' needs a decent period to conduct.

That being said... It's probably going to be snake oil. :D

I agree, its based on the user. Only thing I didn't like was my core apps like mail and calendar being disabled. I'll give up some battery life for the push notifications. I do see how this would greatly help older chip sets.

Edit: as a note for the community. There is options to enable syncing in the app.

I've always had location on. I don't understand the problem. I honestly don't even think turning it off even helps battery; just my opinion though.

Now my review:
It saves a small amount of battery, just enough to be noticed.
But come one guys I've only had like two days to teach it how to save some battery for me. Give it more time.

I'm keeping it:D

I am pretty sure "Location" only ALLOWS an app to use your location (GPS). I don't think it uses any data/juice until the app Needs to Know and asks your location. (Now, I have no idea on this app. If it for some crazy reasons pulls your long/lat every 10 sec then of course, that would suck.)

Stupid SpeedTest STILL hasn't seen my location yet in 6 days.

Honestly its hard to say whether it works or not. Having to leave location services on all the time isn't my idea of saving battery juice and I definately won't enable the sending of data to them.

Also I can't really get a feel for it till I've tried it on differant roms. I'l give it anithere week and try it out on other settings.

theres a difference between location and gps remember. i ALWAYS keep my location ON but only switch on my GPS when i need it. i honestly dont see a difference in battery when keeping location off vs keeping it on. now gps on the other hand will kill your battery quicker than you could ever imagine :)

still in learning over here btw :)
