Is this phone and Virgin Mobile good?

I've been with MetroPCS for a while, and I've been with Virgin Mobile before, but I'm considering going back to Virgin Mobile because its a little cheaper and has some better phones. If I do go to Virgin Mobile, I would like to get the new Samsung Galaxy Victory 4G LTE, but LTE is not in my area. So, my next choice would be the Galaxy SII

But I really want to know if the phone itself is good? I mean, its the SIII's little brother, so I would imagine its good, but I want to hear from people who actually have it.

Also, is the 4G WiMAX any good? Does it go anywhere near 3-5MB/s? I live next to a Clear WiMAX tower, and I know Sprint uses Clear's WiMAX towers, would my speeds increase?

Virgin's Samsung Galaxy S2 phone (D710) is awesome, but Virgin's service is tolerable for the price. I'm in San Francisco and 3G speed is good if you're in an area with a strong signal, but generally speaking, Virgin Mobile's overall coverage is not that great. In SF, I usually get 2-3 bars no matter where I am but in Louisiana, I was getting almost no signal anywhere. But I do notice that the the range for each bar is different. In other words, my 2 bars could be the equivalent of your 3 bars. Also, in SF, in buildings, I sometimes get barely any reception... it just depends. Also, Virgin's 4G is horrible (not the same as Sprint's 4G). Sometimes I can connect to 4G but it's not consistent and I get dropped back to 3G frequently.

I also notice that Virgin's coverage quality seems to have gone done in the past year... I am actually considering other carriers... maybe Verizon but they are relatively expensive.

The phone is good, no complaints. VM is Sprint, I seem to have good coverage on the east coast. 3g is ok for e-mail, Facebook, web etc. I like it

Yup, Sprint is the parent company for VM and VM's 3G uses the Sprint network (without roaming). However, VM's 4G uses Wimax which is different than Sprint's 4G/LTE.

I have seen WiMax 4G download speeds as fast as 6286kbps and as slow as Sprint 3G coverage. WiMax works best outdoors or near large windows. Inside commercial buildings it is spotty and slow at best. The phone is quite nice. i've been using it for about a week now, and everything works well. Screen is nice and bright. Plenty of storage and memory. If/when Spring gets LTE here I may switch to the LTE phone, but until then I'll stick with this one.

The only small gripe I have with Virgin Mobile is their data speeds (sometimes). Sometimes it becomes unbearably slow but other than that I usually always have signal. So I guess the only problem with Virgin is the data speeds. The phone on the other hand is good. Maybe their LTE will be much better and fix all of Virgin's problems.

Speeds with the SII don't seem to be as good as the EVO V (I had that one for about two months) but with SII I get usually 200kB/s, occasionally as high as 900kB/s.

Signal doesn't seem to be good inside certain buildings, but ehh I don't mind. If that's such a big concern i'll go with Verizon, but I can't pay (or I should say, I don't WANT to) 90+ a month.

Is this phone and Virgin Mobile good?
