Hi everyone , I'm Joe. I just purchased the Samsung note 2 and im coming from the HTC Thunderbolt which I loved up until a couple of weeks ago when they threw ICS at us and screwed up the phone royally.Any way I have been using the Note 2 for about 4 days now and I have 3 things that are pissing me off. I am hoping that some of you Note 2 vets out there can provide a fix for me. Here we go

1. when recieving a picture in a text message and you try to pinch zoom the photo, you CANNOT! you must save the picture to your gallery then view it from there. this is RIDICULOUS! Why does everything turn to a MMS format. can this be fixed ?

2. I prefer not to use mobile sites so I always load the fullsites. the Note 2 always revert to the mobile site even if I have saved a bookmark from the full site. I must start to load page and then hit the menu button the check off desktop view every frikkin time! Am I missing something in hte settings on this ?

3. I cant make the desktop windows loop. once I get to the far left window it stops and I have to swipe all the way right to get to the the far right window . you get my drift? pain in my arse!

thanks for allowing me to vent!

For #1, you can download a different Text app like GoSMS or Hancent. Also if someone just sends you a picture it should display as a picture but if they insert any text it will convert to MMS.

Using the Sprint Galaxy Note 2
1. You should be able to. Just click on the picture and once it opens, you should be able to pinch to zoom. I just tried it on a picture my best friend just sent to me. Not sure if it's a limitation that Verizon might have thrown on there (assuming you're on Verizon, since you had the Thunderbolt), but it definitely works on Sprint (both stock text app and go sms pro).

2. I don't know if this is a Samsung thing or if it is an Android thing. I agree with you. This frustrates me as well. I used to use Dolphin browser (until flash support was omitted from newer versions of the browser) and that had the most reliable means of loading up the desktop sites (unless the website was programmed to identify the mobile site and had a built in link that needed to be clicked). Try that out. If Dolphin doesn't work as you want, not sure what other browsers actually allow you to save the setting (without needing to click the desktop toggle through the settings). Chrome and Firefox (the 2 browsers I use most often) both don't quite save my choice for wanting the desktop site. Sorry if this isn't much help, but Dolphin was the only browser (I recall) that allows you to set a preference of loading the desktop site.

3. Pinch to close, on the homescreen you're looking at, and it'll bring up all of the homescreens you have set and you can go directly to whichever one you wanted to go to. This has been pretty standard on most of the OEM UI's for quite some time. If you'd prefer a continuous loop, you should try one of the many 3rd party launchers. I personally prefer 3rd party launchers over OEM UI. It doesn't require rooting and allows for much more customization than any of the OEM UI's. I use NOVA launcher. There are others that prefer APEX or Holo HD or Go Launcher EX.

Hope this info helps.

Hit the menu button in the browser and check Desktop View.

GoSMS does work with the LED notifications. Not to sure about Handcent.

Yep I use Handcent and it uses the LED notifications, you can also change to different colour LEDs in settings. Just remember, when changing from your stock message app to another, such as Go SMS or Handcent, disable the notifications from your stock app, otherwise you will get two lots of notifications.

What carrier are you on? The stock launcher can do this, well at least on my Tmo variant it can be done. I don't think there is an option to disable or enable this that I'm aware of, I'll look through my settings out of curiosity.

Thanks for all your replies, So now im using go sms pro for my texts and I can pinch zoom into pictures now right from my text window , WOOOOHOOOOO and life is a tad better now. I am using Dolphin browser and i can view allmy destinations from the full site without any hassle ,BOOOYAHHHHHH, LIFE IS ALOT BETTER! I cant seem to figure out how to get my desktop windows to loop but I guess I can live with that. I really dont feel like using a different home launcher right now but im pretty sure that will cahnge in the future.
Ok I forgot to list a 4th item that torques my nuts, the fact that when using the S-Pen that it does not work to push the menu or back buttons on the front of the phone. Yes I understand why but to have to manuveur the spen into my hand to push these two buttons is totally ridiculous. come really?

Regarding the infinite looping, just use the pinch close on a homescreen and choose the homescreen you want to go to for now. From what everyone is saying, it might be a carrier limitation...but we'll wait until more people chime in about that.

As for the S-Pen not working with the capacitive buttons...Samsung must have realized that mistake because the Note 8 tablet will have the ability for S-Pen interact with the capacitive buttons. You share the same sentiment as many of your fellow Note 2 owners. It really didn't make sense why Samsung didn't give the S-pen the capability of interacting with the capacitive buttons. Unfortunatley, this is one of the few flaws on the Note 2.

It was a Verizon thing. I read about it a while ago. And actually many likes it because that's how iOS works... stop at the end and no looping. I am surprised that Apple does not have a patent on it! ;)

Which is all the more reason if it must be like the iPhone then get an iPhone. If I had to be stuck without loop I'd use a different launcher.

I thought about it more and realized that there's a reason I don't use pinch close to bring up all the homescreens I have. That is a 2-handed operation and majority of the time, I'm using 1 hand (unless using the s-pen).

On #4, you write a figure on the screen to mimic. I don't remember menu, but I think back is the less than symbol <.

Thanks Corey, Yes by holding the s-pen button down and gestering a < symbol it executes a page back, bypassing the capacitive back button and drawing the same symbol pointing upword takes you to the menu if there is one depending on the page your on. okayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy now were cookin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I really appreciate all the feedback on this forum. all of my concerns have now been fixed. :D:D:D:D:D:D:D
